July mommies

How is sleep going at your house? Natalee seems to have a champion sleeper, how are the rest of you doing? If Q had her way she'd go down at midnight, get up at 4 or 5, eat, sleep 2 hours, eat, sleep 2 hours, eat... Until around 11:00 am. That would be fine with me if I wasn't ready for bed at 8;30. I'm not the night owl I once was. The tough part is that she'll cat nap between 8pm-12 and it's a huge tease because she'll wake up after 30-45 min and I'm always praying that this is the night she'll stay asleep. I know 5 hours straight is considered STTN for an EBF baby this age but I'm still not getting any sleep. :( I woke up twice during her 5 hour stretch last night. So, room for improvement but it's been worse

Re: July mommies

  • I am July mommy and Austin is STILL not sleeping through the night. He usually gets up once sometimes twice. But this past week he has been really sick so he is getting up like 4-5 times.

  • Yes, I am very, very lucky with C.  Unfortunately, this past week she has decided that she likes to stay up late most nights, but it's not a big deal to me now since I'm not working.  Ideally I'd like her sleeping around 9:30, but some nights (like last night) she doesn't go down until midnight.  I've been letting her do whatever she wants as long as she continues to STTN.

Generally this seems to be her schedule for this past week:

Somewhere between 10 PM & 12     sleep for the night

    Around 7 AM    eat

    Around 8-11 AM    sleep

    Around 11 AM    eat

Up & playing with 2 small naps (30 min- over an hour) throughout the afternoon & evening, eating about every 3 hours

I haven't decided yet how I want to adjust her schedule so that it works best for us when I go back to work, but I'd like to keep her up until around 9 PM so that we get to spend time with her when we come home from work.

  • Aislyn is doing amazing at sleep lately.  We went away to a friends this week and she slept from 10/11 until 6:30 both nights.  I was so proud of her.  The next night she went to be again around 12, and we had to wake her up at 8 since we had to see the doctor.  Last night she was fussy, so we took a drive around 8:30 and she was out, so we put her in the pack and play downstairs figuring she will wake up, but at 10 she was still out, so we went to bed and she woke up at 6 this morning.  So proud of her.

  • Well I'm technically not a July mommy (missed it by 5 days) but since I'm so close I'm going to answer anyway.  I have a pretty good schedule going right now.  I start getting Phoebe ready for bed around 6.  We go for a walk, take a bath and I nurse her to sleep.  I put her down around 7 and she sleeps until 11.  I'll change her and nurse her and she will sleep until 2:30 same thing until 5 and we get up for good at 7.  WE get up, get ready and take Rowen to school at 8.  Phoebe will fall asleep as soon as we get back home.  She's up around 10 for a little while (not long) and she wakes up again at 12:30.  She stays up until 2:30 which works really well for me because I have to pick Rowen up at school at 2.  She will nap until around 4:30 or 5 and then we start getting her ready for bed at 6.

  • Reese will sleep a 6-7 hour stretch at night. (This gives me about 4.5-5 hours once I go to bed). She usually goes down between 8 & 9. So, on a typical night, she wakes up around 3:30. She wakes up for the day between 5:30 & 6:30. She's up for about 2 hours before her 1st nap. The nap will be anywhere from 45 min to 2 hours. That is her morning. Her afternoons are still pretty inconsistent, & although I'm tracking them, I can't seem to see a pattern yet. We start her bedtime routine/bath around 6:30-7:00 (when she wakes up from her final nap of the day, we have playtime & then start the bath before she gets tired/cranky).
  • I'm a little late on this one but ...

C is getting better at his night sleep, slowly, but we typically start getting him ready for bed around 7-7:30 with a bath, a little massage and song and pjs, then I will usually nurse him to sleep. On a good night he is asleep by 8, but typically he will fuss a little and finally be down for the night by 9. He then will sleep until about 2 on a good night, sometimes he is up again by midnight, nurse, and fall right back to sleep, then up again 3 or so hours later, depending on what time he woke up the first time. He is usually awake by 6:30, we lay in bed until atleast 7, and sometimes he will fall back asleep until 8 or so, othertimes we are up and out of bed. Then the rest of our day, he is back down for a nap by 9 a.m., then again by noon, 3 and 5 or 6. He usually sleeps for about 45 minutes or so and his naps get less restfull as the day goes on. I'm grateful for the slight schedule we have going and am looking forward to longer naps and longer wake periods.

  • I was just looking at these stats on my baby app I downloaded last week, so I can tell you exactly Stick out tongue

For the past week, he has been going to sleep between 8-10pm.  He sleeps 4.5 - 6 hours, then gets up every 3 hours like clockwork after that until sometime between 8 & 10am when he wakes up for the day.  His naps are all over the place, but most days he naps for about 3 hours total.
