Just got home from my doc's office and was told I have a sinus infection. I feel awful! Its amazing how much things are magnified when you are pregnant. They put me on some antibiotics, and I must have asked 4 times if they are safe. I'm so weary of taking any medicine.
Anyone else catch a bug yet? It seems like there is so much going around right now!
Re: Sick :*( Anyone Else?
Goodness, yes! I have been so congested the past three-four days. I have been trying to combat it with the neti pot so it hasn't turned into a sinus infection yet and I hope it clears up soon. I can't take it much longer.
Yes, although I am not totally sure if mine is allergy related or not.
I started getting a sore throat last night and it has gotten worse all day today. I am a teacher, so I figure I probably caught something from one of the kids in my first week back.
I am sure this is a silly question, but I'm going to ask anyway. Cough drops (like Halls) are ok/safe to take while pregnant right? Sorry, I know it is rediculous, but I have taken no meds this whole pregnancy (other than Tylenol for headaches).
Thanks Ladies!
Yup, I was sick all weekend, and then it got really bad Monday and Tuesday so I stayed home from work. I got some kind of deep chest cold. I'm still really congested and I pee in my pants every time I have a coughing fit. I had to buy a package of adult diapers
Yup - sore throat and congestion started Monday. Was bearable until yesterday when I left work at 12. Didn't make it in today, hoping I will tomorrow since I'm PT and don't get paid if I don't work!! But seriously - being sick and pregnant is sooo miserable. Also they told me I could take Sudafed, and it kept me (and the baby) up ALL night. Ugh. No more of that for me. Guess I'll stick to the saline spray...
Feel better to all the other sickies!
It better be ok, because I've been sucking on them all week. From the research I did, it seems that a lot of cold medications are still ok to take. You can still take acetaminophen, guaifenesin, dextromethorphan and doxylamine, but stay away from phenylephrine. A lot of cough syrups have a high alcohol content too, so obviously don't overdo those. Give your OB a call. I'm sure they get this question all the time.
I did some research online and found that the ingredients in the Ricola cough drops are safe. I think the Halls are as well, but I don't like the taste of them so I didn't really check.
That sucks that a bunch of us are sick! I guess everything is really going around. I actually had a reaction to the antibiotics they gave me and ended up in L&D last night for 2 hrs of monitoring. Luckily LO is perfect and I am not having any contractions and am not at all dilated. The nurse said that when they put her on the Z Pack when she was pg she thought she was dying! I was soooo crampy and thew up quite a bit of blood. I'm staying home today to rest, and hopefully kick this thing.
Hope everyone feels better soon!
