Spent night in ER

So two days ago I woke up with back pain, no big deal I've had back problems before. I thought it would just go away. Yesterday I woke up and it was sooo much worse. I already had a dr. appt so I figured I'd talk to the dr then. I went to the dr. and they made me do a clean catch urine sample to check for kidney problems and then measured fundal height and said I was measuring at 26 weeks so that could be the cause because of stretching. So whatever I went home and decided to just try to rest my back. I was laying on the couch and couldn't roll over because I was in so much pain. Then I tried to get up and that was next to impossible. It took me a half hour and a lot of tears to get up. I called my on call dr and he told me to go to L&D to make sure I wasn't having contractions. I got to the hospital and got all hooked up to the machines. Mason sounded great, no contractions (thank god!) and cervix is closed. The dr thinks I have a prolated (sp?) disc and there is pretty much nothing that can be done right now because I'm pregnant other than PT. They made me stay the night which was horrible. I'm now waiting for the dr to check me out again and praying I can leave today. I just want to get some sleep in my own bed! Just wanted to let you know what happened with us and that mommy and baby are ok!

  • Glad you and LO are ok, but that sounds like an ordeal.
  • Glad your ok.....How were you laying in the hospital beds?  I ask this b/c I was in L&D on Tuesdsay for bad back cramps that wouldn't go away and I was in tears.  Laying in that bed was SOOOO uncomfortable but luckily like you they registred no contractions, cervix was closed and they tested my urine for kidney problems.

I hope for both of our sakes it gets better and goes away....they told me that if I keep getting it to keep going back and getting checked b/c just b/c it was nothing this time doesn't mean it won't be next

  • Glad you are both ok. Hope you feel better soon!

  • I kept having to adjust the bed every ten minutes to attempt to get comfortable. I sure hope it doesn't happen again, for either of us.

  • I'n so sorry your hurting so bad.  No fun especially when you can't move that well anyway!  I have 3 herniated disks in my neck and when I move the wrong way I'm out of commission for a good week so I feel your pain! Heating pads help a lot!
