I'm getting Mirena put in on Tuesday - I don't know how it works in the States (do the docs just have them in the office?), but here the doc gives you a prescription for the IUD, you take it to the pharmacy to be filled, they hand it over and then you take it back with you to the doctor on your appointment day.
So today I picked up my prescription and OMFG that box is huuuuuuge! It's like the length of my arm! The pharmacist pulled it off the shelf and my friend and I started laughing hysterically. Nothing subtle about an enormous box with MIRENA in massive writing across it.
I had to carry it through the mall while pushing my boys in the stroller...I guess now everyone in my town knows The Lady With Twins is not planning on having more kids any time soon.

Yeah I think it's got the long tube thingy that they use? Which makes sense from a hygiene point of view, but I was only expecting to get the little Y-shaped insert in a box lol.
wow, how embarrassing! They didn't even put it in a bag or anything?
LOL! This reminds me of how when you order certain items through the mail, they send it in plain, brown, unmarked packages so the whole world doesn't know your business.
I would have never guessed that you'd have to pick the IUD up yourself, but I guess it's the same idea as picking up BCP at the pharmacy counter?
It would have been nice if the pharmacy gave you a package for it! Keep an eye out...someone may have snapped a photo of you and posted it on failblog or something.
This cracks me up! I can't believe they don't box it up or something, geez? What if a crazy lady like me tried to mug you at the mall and steal your mirena?!

They put it in a plastic bag but the bag was transparent and it stuck out the top so it was kind of pointless lol (they usually use brown paper bags but it didn't fit in those).
