I'm new to all of this and Northwestern seems to be the place to go in the city. I'm not terribly particular about my doc, but I was wondering if there are any doctors at Northwestern that y'all have had a bad experience with/would be sure to avoid?
TIA!
Re: Are there any BAD OB/GYNs at Northwestern?
I heard Dr. Moses can be a little rough around the edges but the group he's in has a good rep. Patients either love him or hate him but he made one of my friends cry during her labor & delivery because she was asking too many questions about why she needed pitocin, & another friend switched practices after she got him for her delivery & didn't like his bedside manner(she loved her OB though but didn't want to chance having to deal with him again...& she's had 2 more kids since that exp. so she probably would have had to see him).
He's probably a good doc & everyone has bad days, but I know 2 people with neg experiences with him. Depends on what you want from your doc.
I used to see Dr. Chen at Progressive Care for Women at Northwestern a few years ago and did not care for him or their practice. He gave me a wrong diagnosis (told me I was prego and wasn't trying so I was freaking out!). Plus they didn't explain their billing on a procedure and I had to pay a few hundred out of pocket in the end.
I delivered with them. My OB was Dr. Star & I really liked her. Her bedside manner was a little weird, but we got along great & she was totally cool with me wanting a natural delivery. Dr. McNair was the one who did the actual delivery and I love love loved her!! She was awesome & even made me laugh once during pushing! haha! She was fully supportive of me going natural as well.
Out of the other Drs I saw there I really liked Dr. Moses (he was sweet & the only one that didn't hurt during the internal!), and the female Dr with the first name Melissa (can't remember the last name!). I didn't really care for the other male OBs (they always seemed much more rushed to me).
The only OB I had issues with was one of the female OBs (Asian last name...maybe Chen?!). She was the first OB on call when I went into labor and we got into it a bit about pitocin. She wanted to start it right away (even though I was contracting) and without checking to see how dilated I was. She also was rude when I said I planned on no drugs. Luckily I fought back & got the delivery I wanted, but I could have done without her drama!
