Make your own baby food? I would like to, I just think it's so easy and so much cheaper that there's no good reason for me not to. I also like the fact that I can make it with zero preservatives or added "stuff" and with organic fruits and veggies. What's your take on baby food? Are you making your own or buying it? Just wondering how many other mommas are into this kind of stuff.

I plan to! I'm going to register for this -->

Here are a couple of websites I've found with lots of wonderful information:

As for the baby food maker, I saw that one at BRU and while I love it, I just can't justify that kind of money. I doubt anyone would purchase it for me. Here's a link to the one I think I'm actually going to get:

I did with my first. My grandmother gave me the Beaba Babycook for Christmas that year when DD was about 6 months and I LOVED it. My best friend said if I can do it, anyone can, because I am so ridiculously ADD and always crazy hahaha. It really is amazingly easy and cheap. I could even cook salmon in it! I would just cut up squash from our garden, for example, and steam it while I cooked our dinner. And then I would take an afternoon on a Sunday and make enough to freeze on a piece of wax paper. Then I could defrost it in a jar in the Babycook for the rest of the week. My grandmother was so excited that it worked so well. I can't wait to use it again for this LO.
DD would have her own little meals of a piece of salmon, green beans, all steamed and on her plate! I credit that to her being such a good eater now, because it made it so easy to introduce good, healthy foods to her fresh. I mean, this is a toddler who eats Asparagus for crying out loud. Of course, she is a lot like DH and he loves all types of vegetables, so it is probably good genes as well
I have never even thought about making my own food- but this looks cute!
You should also look into the "Magic Bullet". I have one and use it for A LOT! I have even already tried the baby food and it worked really good.
We won't make our own, but with our last 2 we delayed solids and went straight to table foods (for food allergy/GI reasons). Our youngest will eat whatever we are eating. We don't do anything special to grind it up. We just cut it small and let her eat it with her hands.
We do occasionally feed her jarred food for convenience when we're out and about.

That's something I would love to try. We have our own garden so making veggie baby food wouldn't be a problem. And we have a magic bullet so I'm good there.
With my first I made some (easy vegetables like green beans, sweet potatoes, carrots, peas) and bought some of the stuff I didn't want to even try to tackle. Plus it was winter/spring when he was starting on some solids and a lot of fruits were out of season and expensive...so I figured it was easier and cheaper to just buy some and make the ones I felt more comfortable with making.
