Is it normal for BF babies to spit up this much?

DS spits up just about after every feeding. We burp him really well after each feeding and leave him sitting upright for a while afterwards, but as soon as he lays down he spits up, usually all over me. This is kind of a new development for him so I'm just wondering if it's normal and what I can do to prevent it.

Not sure if its normal or not, but my DS does the same thing... has from day 1, I think. (We EBF)

is it projectile? do you eat dairy? he could have a small form of AR. i think a small amount of spit-up is fine, but probably not after every meal.

Pretty sure it's normal. My DS does after almost every meal too. I know a lot of other women with babies around the same age as mine and I asked them how frequently their babies spit up. Same thing for them!

Mine started spitting up a lot more around starting around 5-6 weeks, and he's keeping it up pretty regularly. It doesn't seem to bother him, hence I don't let it bother me. I just try to keep him upright as long as I can, hope for the best, and always keep a burp cloth within arm's reach. I am getting good at catching it before too much makes it off his face. Wink

My baby spits up a ton (has since birth) between just about every feeding. It does not seem to bother her. I still hold her upright after each feeding for at least 10 minutes, but I'm not sure if that makes any difference.

My pedi did not seem concerned since she is gaining sufficient weight and she does not cry or get upset when it happens - if either of those things are the case for your baby could it be the reflux that babies get?

I wondor if my daughter just overeats. I have a bib on her all the time and don't put her down without a burp cloth under her head, but we're both usually covered at all times

By the way, just to add to my post above, about half of all babies get reflux but it's really only a problem when it gets severe (like the baby isn't gaining weight, blood in stool, etc).

DD does this as well. i was talking to her pedi about it and wouldn't you know she threw up then as well. Pedi said it was reflux. I always thoguht of reflux being something that would make a baby cry or uncomfortable and the pedi said not necessarily. He said if she starts to be uncomfortable than it is burning her throat and to let him know. Works for me!

I'm only 9 days in so I don't know much but this seems to work for us. I feed smaller portions more often and I burp half way through each feeding and also when she is done. I keep her upright for a little bit, but not too long. So far so good.
