Infertility

Oh, those husbands!

I had a blog open this afternoon with a picture of empty vials and syringes and such.  DH started reading a bit and realized that it was from an IVF cycle.  He proceeded to ask if he would have to give me shots, and I told him yes.  You should have seen the look on his face.  In the midst of worrying about myself, I neglected to remember that he's super afraid of needles.  This will be interesting.

Re: Oh, those husbands!

  • My Dh doesn't like needles either.

If we have to move onto IVF (::knock on wood:: that we don't), I'm not sure how I will be able to talk Dh into doing some of the shots for me.

I hope you talking YH into it goes much smoother then mine will.  GL!!!!!

  • I was worried about DH too, but he really stepped up to the plate. In fact, I think he was starting to enjoy it a bit too much lol.

  • My husband was actually disappointed that he didn't get to give me any shots until I got to the PIO shots.  He did help me prepare some of my shots which was really nice.

Good luck!  I hope your DH comes through for you!

  • No way, no how would my husband be giving me my injections.  The first time he even saw the needles he turned three shades of green and I decided no way was he coming near me with a injection.  I do all my injections including PIO (intramuscular).  Best of luck... :o)

  • You could do the first few, see if he will be okay after that. I prefer DH do all of mine, but really the lupron and Gonal F were very easy, if you are on that. But if he starts slow with those, the trigger and PIO will be easier.

I am so happy you guys are going to do IVF! How exciting.

  • Oh boy! My DH was scared he'd have to give me shots but I do them myself. I don't trust anyone else to do them!

  • My DH does my shots. And he prepares them. I think he likes being a part of the process, besides making his donation while I am doing the ER.

  • My DH didn't do my shots during IUI's. He was soooo nervous. My BFF is a nurse and lives 15 mins away. I just ran down to her house and she shot me. (my trigger shots) lol. Thankful I've never had to do my own, with the exception of the injectables that I had to do in my belly.

Good luck to your DH and best wishes as you begin the IVF process.
