Infertility

fert report :/

Not what we were expecting to hear.

Out of the 24 eggs collected only 12 were mature which he said is a lot fewer than they expected.

They ICSI'd those 12 and 11 fertilized.

They are not freezing any at the zygote stage because they require that you have 12 or more to do that.

More tomorrow. =( I am so disappointed. We were really hoping to freeze some today and some later because we cannot afford another fresh cycle any time soon. This sucks.

EDIT: I know that 11 isnt bad but they told us yesterday that they thought 20 should be mature. So this is half of what we were expecting.

Re: fert report :/

  • I think 12 is a great number to be mature and the fact that 11 are fertilized is awesome! I'm sorry you couldn't freeze some at this stage, but I definitely think you will have some snow babies from this cycle for sure. Hang in there... I look forward to knowing how those embies are growing!

  • I am sorry your report wasn't better, but 11 out of 12 fertilizing is really good.  I know it would have been better if you had more mature eggs.

    (((hugs)))

  • I still think that is a good number and 11 out of 12 is great!

  • That is a great fert report!  Don't focus on the 24 (I know easy for me to say) focus on the fact that 92% of your eggs fertilized!  That is fantastic.  I've got everything crossed that you get great news on their progress.  ::::grow embies grow::::

  • 12 mature, 11 fertilized is a great number! i know it's not what you expected so that is disappointing. but i just know that these 11 will keep growing strong.

and you only need 2 or 3 to implant, so just imagine if the rest keep growing - you'll still have several snowbabies :) ((HUGS))

  • omg, I saw your FB post and I was expecting much worse news than this... I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw that you have 11 of the 12.  That's not bad at all, although it always sucks when you expect one thing and you end up with something less.  I'll bet you still end up with some to freeze!  Keep the faith, girl!  Stay positive!  And hope you're feeling better :)

  • I completely understand your frustration and sadness. I too was able to have many eggs retrieved but few were mature. There isn't much you can do now but concentrate on the eleven great embies you have growing and multiplying. Not what you want, but try to keep your head up and to remain positive. *HUGS*

  • I am sorry you didn't have as many as you hoped.  But, 11 is a great number.  I hope they keep growing well and you have some to freeze in the end.  Good luck!

  • Hey!  Sorry I'm responding so late.  I need to get better at this.  But I wanted to let you know that I am so excited you had 11 out of your 12 mature eggs fertilize!  I can understand your frustration as my last RE always talked up about how they were going to get all these eggs from me, etc., and I always worried that they were focusing more on quantity than quality.  I hope your embies keep on growing strong!  When will you hear next from the RE as far as an update is concerned?
