Ok, here we go. Last night was the worst night J has ever had. Worse than any newborn night, or any of the nights she was sick. She went to bed at her usual bedtime of 6:30 and woke up at 9:30. She doesn't sleep through the night, never has, but she usually takes a bottle and goes back to sleep until around 4, when she wakes up for another bottle.
Anyway after holding her/changing her diaper/giving her a bottle, she continued to cry. (That really never happens) We decided to let her cry for a few minutes. She never went back to sleep. I was up with her till after 2. She was screaming everytime I put her down in her crib. Finally a little after two she fell asleep, I thought for sure she would stay asleep for awhile. Nope she woke up at 5:30 for the day, and has refused a nap since.
So, what the deuce? I thought she was constipated but she went to the bathroom twice last night and once today. I did start her on cows milk about 5 days ago after the pedi's ok. She is eating fine, going to the bathroom like normal, not teething (I did try motrin just incase). I just need to figure this out so I can try to avoid a repeat tonight. Any advice?
Re: Please Help, I'm about to lose it -kinda long-
She did have an appointment with thee pedi on Monday and g=he checked her ears and said they were fine
My first thought was ear infection also. But maybe the milk transition is affecting her.
Hope you all have a better night tonight.
Hmmmm...ear infection would have been my first guess, but if her ears were just checked 3 days ago that probably isn't likely (although, I must say that we have had that exact thing happen - ears fine and then infected days later).
Could be the cows milk. We had a rough transition, and I mixed formula and cows milk for a few weeks before going to straight cows milk. Did you do any sort of gradual transition? Maybe try the lactose free cows milk? It took DD quite a while to be fine/normal drinking cows milk. It also could have been a fluke though... So hard to tell. I hope tonight is better for you. If it isn't, I would definitely call the pedi tomorrow morning.
Both my boys have had times where we've had a well-check at the doctor with no problems and then ear infections later that week (with fussiness/crying as the only symptom).
I'm sorry I have no other ideas! Hopefully it was just a fluke and things will be better tonight. I know sometimes that happens to us (especially if working on a big milestone....maybe that's what's going on?)
I was going to say ears but as they were just checked that might not be it.
We have been having a bunch of nights like that lately. LOL, I'm so tired and yet I dread night time. Part of LO's problem has been teething but there are nights where it isn't and we have no idea what's going on with her. We used CIO to help cut out her night feedings and when we got rid of the paci and I think we might have to start CIO again :P
I hope your LO starts sleeping for you or you figure out what's going on with her!
teeth?
That is what I was thinking.
If you recently switched to milk, it could be upsetting her tummy. If it continues, talk to your pedi about an alternative such as soy milk or toddler formula. It may just take time to get used to it if that is actually causing the problem.
That's what I'm thinking too.
