Hi-
I'm new here though I've lurked for a long time.
By way of a quick intro: I am a PhD student working on my dissertation in history. I teach college courses and spend inordinate amounts of time in libraries. My husband and I have a very spoiled and very cute little white dog named Abby and have been TTC for a little over a year.
Since its been over a year of TTC now, I'd like to take the next step and talk to a doctor. My GP recently moved and I hated the practice she transfered her patients to so I'm at a loss for where to go. Can anyone reccomend a good place to start? Somewhere in the Med Center/Bellaire area would be great.
Thanks so much!
Re: Doctor Recomendations?
if you're looking for a good ob/gyn all of the docs at www.completewomenscarecenter.com are terrific! my doctor there is sarah jurney and love her. i think they talk to you about basic fertility issues.
when my dh and i needed to take the next step and seek fertility issues (clomid, iui and then ivf) we went to www.houstonivf.net. they are amazing there.
good luck
I also recommend Complete Women's Care Center. Their main location is in the Med Center. I just started seeing Dr Hardwick-Smith in July and she is wonderful. They definitely deal with basic infertility issues. I'm on my first round of Clomid and she is monitoring me with ultrasounds & bloodwork (both are very important).
I love this practice because its all women, the office is beautiful, and everyone is very friendly and makes me feel at ease.
After more than 2 years of fertility treatments, FET did the trick!
IVF March 2012 - BFP! - Severe OHSS = 8 days in the hospital in kidney failure
No heartbeat at 10w6d
FET August 27,2012 = BFP!

I'm also a PhD student (strategy) and I;m currently working on my dissertation. Last year we saw Dr. Michael Heard at St. Luke's in the Medical Center

I strongly recommend him. He's part of the women's specialist of Houston, and that practice has several OB/GYN and also midwives.
Good luck!
For an OB/GYN, all the doctors at Women's Specialists in the medical center are fabulous. I saw Dr Bobo.
For an RE, I saw Dr Gill at Houston Fertility Institute. They have an office off Fondren and Westheimer, and also one in the medical center. They're fantastic there and the sole reason we have our daughter

Tips-
Visit the Trouble TTC board. You'll find a wealth of information there from ladies who are going through the exact same things. It always makes me feel better when I have questions.
If your Dr prescribes Clomid, make sure they plan to monitor you with bloodwork and ultrasound. Clomid increases the risk of cysts and can also thin the lining of you uterus.
Have a list of questions ready before you go to the Dr so you don't forget to ask anything important.
Feel free to send me a message if you have any questions.
Good luck!
