I moved out of state for work 3 years ago w/ DH. We will be traveling home for our 'big' family and friend shower. However, I would like to do something here where I live for work folks and friends in this area.
1. Is it tacky to throw myself a shower?
2. I work with almost all men (would that be weird?)?
3. Should I just let it go ... Maybe one of the wives will step up - maybe wait and see?
Help!!!
Re: Work Shower ... Help
1- yes it is tacky to throw yourself a shower
2- most guys are not really into showers so they might find it wierd. My coworker threw my a bridal shower and the guys definately ran off after snagging a piece of cake.
3- yes let it go.you are already having a shower so do not worry about it
1. Yes, very tacky to throw yourself a shower.
2. Yes, men think that this would be weird. DH works in a very male-dominated industry, although there are women in the HR and accounting departments who throw the showers, then men just pool money and hand it over to the women to do something with.
3. Yes, let it go. A shower isn't a right.
I know you've already "let it go", but I don't understand the concept of wanting to "do something for them".
If THEY want to celebrate your baby and pregnancy, THEY will do something for you. You "doing something for them" is basically saying "I'm going to throw a party where you get to go and buy me something! Isn't that nice of me?!".
This is why it's tacky! You're not really doing them any favors.

Yes, very tacky to throw yourself a shower, so I would let it go and wait to see what happens.
A better idea would be to host a "meet the baby" party a couple months after your LO is born. You can invite all of your local friends & co-workers over for a celebration where you provide food and drinks, etc. Some people might get you baby gifts then (but don't expect them, and don't include registry info in the invitations... people can find it on their own if they want to).

How is throwing yourself a shower doing something for them? Let it go....one shower is sufficient.
My thoughts exactly.
1. Yes. Can you ask a friend to host the shower for you?
2. Unless you do "couples shower" - that would work.
3. I would let it go -
