wwifd? IUI + Clomid, c'mon in

I?m in a pickle. What would you do?

I?m at CD14 right now on a Clomid cycle. I have a 19mm (21.5 x 16.5) on my right and a 15mm on my left.

The RE would like to wait a few days to do the trigger and IUI (to get them to grow). Problem is, DH is leaving tomorrow (Friday) afternoon for a week. The RE said that triggering tonight and doing the IUI tomorrow isn?t ?ideal?, but ?it can be done?. So, here are my options:

A)     Trigger tonight and IUI tomorrow

B)      Don?t trigger/no IUI

Here?s some other random information if it makes any difference:

-The cost to freeze sperm is $700?not paying that

-My EDD was in October, along with my 30th bday. It?s going to seriously suck emotionally having those two milestones pass without an occupied ute

-DH can?t cancel/delay his trip

-IUIs are covered through insurance. I have 7 covered IUIs left after this one.

  • I'm surprised they're not ready to go...You could probably go forward with it..."not ideal" doesn't mean "no chance"! That's great you have so many cycles covered!

  • I think I would do it.  I would think that if there was completely no chance of it working your RE would (or should!) tell you so.  "Not ideal" to me is completely different than "you're wasting your time".

Good luck with whatever you decide!

  • Well the 19mm follie is mature so I think I would trigger ASAP and do the IUI tomorrow, getting as much time as possible between the trigger and the actual IUI.  If you trigger within the next few hours and have your IUI in the late afternoon that would get you close to 30 hrs in between trigger and IUI which is very close to normal for a lot of REs.

  • Do it, if it's your only option. You're better off having the chance of it working that not doing it at all, right?!??!

  • I would go ahead and do the IUI.

  • Thanks everyone. I decided to take your advice. I went home on my lunch break and got the trigger shot (a fellow ARTer coworker is going to shoot me with it in the stomach in another 10 minutes in the ladies bathroom...sigh the things we do) and then the IUI will be tomorrow morning at 10a.

    Thanks again! Fingers crossed!!!
