2nd Trimester

15 Weeks and cramping

Hello Ladies,

I know this question gets a little tiresome but it's my first pregnancy and I am not sure what to expect. I am 15 Weeks today and I am cramping a lot this morning, not really painful just dull light cramps no blood so I don't want to call my doctor. I am really hoping this is ok but the reason I worry is because I have heard that round ligament pain only lasts for a few mins or secconds and then stops but this has been an going for at least half an hour. I am wondering if it could be from not having enough water. I also had half a cup of coffee could that be another reason. Thank you in advance to anyone who answers :) have a wonderful day and best of luck to all.

Re: 15 Weeks and cramping

  • I had quite a bit of cramping through 24 weeks, and my doctor said that I should have no more than 4 or so an hour.  If I started cramping, I was to drink water, and she suggested that I get 80 - 100 oz a day.  If you haven't had much water today, try chugging a glass now.  If cramps were more frequent, came with bleeding/spotting, or if they did not stop with water and rest, then I was to call.

  • Congratulations on your pregnancy. First of all, don't panic, stay as calm as you possibly can. Think positive. I alway suggest to call a nurse or dr. If you think it's bad enough just go in. They are more than likely going to tell you if you're not spotting, then don't worry.

It doesn't have to be round ligament pain to hurt, your body is doing a lot of stretching and re-arranging for the baby. I have a small torso, and this is my 2 child, and I have aches and pains everyday!

I also completely agree about the water!

  • Thanks Ladies I felt silly asking the question because I feel like I'm being a little neurotic but I guess it's better to ask that keep it to myself! I drank lots of water and just going to refill my bottle so I have it nearby all day, I am still feeling a little crampy but as I said not spotting so I am going to try and stay calm I have an appointment Monday afternoon so I will mention it then. Thanks again Xxxxx

  • I still get crampy and it lasts for hours.  I think it's stretching and growing of the uterus.  That baby is growing in there a lot, and since your uterus has never grown it's going to hurt a bit.  Like the others said, if there's no blood it's prob okay.  :)

Ok I hope it's normal I just wanted to say Lisa that the little picture you have of your dog is adorable! I have a chihuahua too!

  • I had a VERY crampy 1st tri and I still get them, though the longer isn 2nd tri the better they've gotten. My doc said unless their is blood, don't worry. That said, go by your own dr's policy! If you want to call and ask, I think they'd be happy to answer your questions.

    A few other thoughts:
Drink water/fluids. Dehydration can play into cramps
Your uterus is doing an amazing stretching job! Cramps make sense
Have you poo'ed recently? That plays into it for me.

  • I still have light cramping and I'm 16 weeks. I think it's OK though since it's not intense painful cramping. I plan on bringing it up at my next OB appt next week but I'm not too worried.
