Has anyone participated in the Fairview Childbirth and Family Education classes? The classes that we wanted to take through my obgyn is full so we were looking at these classes. Has anyone taken any of these? What did you take and what did you think?

Re: Fairview Birth and Family educ. Classes??
We went. They were okay. I found out I would need a c-section halfway through the classes (we went to the weekly ones, not the long weekend ones) so the labor/birth stuff didn't apply to me.
I liked getting the hospital tour.
The BEST class was when the pediatrician spoke.
We did the express one too and thought it was good. We also did the BF one... dh thought it was helpful, I did not think it was that informative. I agree with the pp in that the ped's talk was great as was the tour (have they restarted these... last year they stopped due to H1N1?)
DH and I took the 6-week (1x/wk) Childbirth Ed class at Fairview Southdale. I thought it was very informative. The hospital tour was good to take, and our educator did a nice job of incorporating breathing/massage/positioning techniques in each class. DH thought it was good info, but would have prefered the weekend express format, but our schedules didn't allow for that. We had signed up to take the breastfeeding class, but DD was born before it started!
We took the 6x birth class, and I liked just having the experience of taking time to sit with my husband for a few hours and focus on the baby, upcoming labor, etc. None of the info was new for me since I did so much reading beforehand, but it was great for my husband to hear it.
I also took the breastfeeding class, and I DID find that super helpful, and I was really glad my husband came too - just to give us both the knowledge of how the process works. Again, most was repeat info for me since I read a lot but definitely great for my husband to hear.
My favorite class I took was the Mom & Baby one post partum - it is for anyone with babies less than 4 months old and it was an AWESOME experience - having a newborn was so scary and isolating for me, it was great to meet with moms going through the EXACT same thing - even my friends with older babies/kids had already forgotten what having a newborn was really like. We still get together once a month - probably one of the best things I did! I started my class when my daughter was 3 weeks old, but the babies ranged from my daughter (youngest) to the oldest being 8 weeks.
I would have to 2nd this, This class is a MUST. The class I was in were babies all born with in a week of each other. Aiden little buddy is from that class.
