We flew five hours with DD when she was 11 weeks and it was a breeze. She slept for half the flight (although most babies that age sleep through the whole thing), and just looked around for the other half. We brought our BFing pillow, which was a godsend...she just hung out on that and saved my arms from having to hold her the entire time.
I nursed on takeoff and landing (as well as a million times in between) and she didn't make a peep. She was also delightful on the whole three week trip, since she liked looking around at things and slept a lot. The only time she ever STTN in her entire life was one night on that trip...I'll never forget it! LOL.
We flew with DD for the first time when she was about that age. Easiest flight we have taken with her!
My advice is to try and time it so you can nurse on take-off and landing. I also kept DD under the nursing cover most of the flight because in my mind it helped keep her from getting more germs than necessary (who knows if that is true - I just felt better ).
Other than that, your baby will most likely be lured to sleep by the white noise.
It is when they hit toddler-hood that flying becomes... um... interesting.
I flew with DD at 11 weeks cross country and it was a piece a cake (especially compared to now at almost 2.5 years old). She slept a large portion of the time. I BF her, so her ears weren't a problem and I didn't have to fuss with bottles, formula etc. I wore in her the sling in the airport. Other than having to lug her carseat to the check in counter, it was hassle free. Good luck!
the boppy was a MUST HAVE for our flight from philadelphia to FL! m nursed on takeoff fell asleep and woke up just before landing when i nursed him again!!!
