TTC After a Loss

To those of you struggling with diets

Can we try to help each other?

I am 5'1. My weight was 130 when I got married, 147 when I found out I was pg and since m/c I have gained so much I am at 185 now Crying I went from a size 6 to a size 12/14 in 9 months.

My Dr does not want me to diet, just eat healthy but it's still so hard.

I used to dance, and I still take 1 jazz, 1 tap and 1 ballet class/week. Should I work out more? (Ugh, hate the gym)

Re: To those of you struggling with diets

  • Weight Watchers is what worked for me! I loved it, and I lost 25 pounds on it with out ever working out once! I am in on anything with weight loss!

  • I find that I am at my best when I have a goal to work towards.  Like signing up for a 5k, 10k, bike race or something like that.  It seems better when it is "training" rather than just forcing myself to workout for my health.
  • I agree about WW.  Whenever I put on a few pounds, I do WW for a week and it goes right back away.  I never actually joined, I just have all the info and do it on my own.  It's so easy and it works.  Let me know if you want some info.  I hate exercising!

  • We could do a Nestie biggest loser and have a small pot.  Would $$ motivate you?  My office does it with a $20 buy in and I know some people who have organized them via their blog...  I'd help facilitate, and I'd participate.  It's all based on percentages, so the world won't know your weight, just the % you've lost.

I think we could pull something together.  It would be interesting and might provide some motivation...

I would like some of that info!!! Big Smile Please and Thank You!

  • I could use some help too.

I always think I'm doing good, but then I weigh myself and not so much.  When I met DH i was about a anywhere between a 4 and 6, but I also worked out about 3-4 hours a day and took diet pills.  Quit doing that and stayed at an 8 until the m/c and now I'm a 10.

I used to love working out, but just can't get back into it.  And I need to eat better and exercise to help w/my insulin which will help me increase my chances of getting pg.

    Any ideas?

  • i would be interested in some magical pill please.  i don' t like to excercise and while i do love healthy food, bad food is easier and cheaper.  LOL.

ok, for real now.  i would def be into something to help.  i'm waaaaaay to heavy.  and the thought of gaining more when i get pg is scary.

  • **Lunatwo**

can you send some info my way too?

  • Luna- I'd appreciate some info too!

  • I'm struggling too. I lost 6 lbs before getting pg & then 7 more while pg (I wasn't trying to).  Near the end I gained 2 back.  Well since the m/c I initially lost 3 & then have now gained 8.  I've been eating less & going on 2+ mile walks with my DH several times a week.  Doesn't seem to be helping at all.

I don't have much room to work out at home & hate being out without my DH. (I was held up by a couple guys with a gun a few years ago & still have fear issues being out by myself).

I did see something on one of the boards last night about the Couch to 5k running program & plan to try that with my DH.  I'm mixing my own podcast now so I don't have to keep looking at a watch for the intervals.  I hope to start that program next week.

I really wish that I wasn't afraid of running during the day by myself but I get nervous if a guy just stares at me around my apartment, let alone out in the neighborhood.

  • I could definitely use help.

I've lost 8lbs since the m/c, hopefully when I weight myself it will be 10lbs! But I still have a long way to go.  I was overweight before I got pg and then gained 15lbs while pg.

I'm hoping to lose 15 more pounds after this initial 10.  Its also helping me not get obssessed with TTC.

Right now I am working out 6 times a week (either 30 minutes on the elliptical or a 20 minute strength training video - its Jillian from the Biggest Loser, the 30 day shred.  Awesome workout! People have commented this week that I have lost weight but I think its mostly b/c I'm toning up so much from that video)

My biggest thing is eating.  I just eat too much, I enjoy food.  We stopped eating out so much and I've been cooking healthy meals and taking my lunch to work ... so far its working but its hard on the weekends.

I am totally in for this! I think it would be great idea.

  • I continue to follow WW(even work for them one time a week) since I lost all of my weight a few years ago.  I'm all for have some kind of encouragement here with weight loss.  I think it would be helpful!

  • You sound like me! ?I have gained 35 pounds since TTC! ?I am just watching what I eat and only eating 1400 cal/day and trying to walk around the block at least 3x week.
  • We shoudl do like a weekly weigh in or something to keep us all motivated.  It sounds like a lot of us need some motivation! Smile
  • At work we joined a website called Weight Loss Wars.  It's easy to do and it tracks everybody's weight loss (in %) and lets you know where you stand.  It's really motivating to see it like that.  And you can set any amount to join the competition and winner takes all at the end.

  • I sooooooooooooo need something like this!! I've put on almost 40 pounds in the last 5 years since meeting DH. It's just pitiful and everyday I look at myself and want to cry - but I just can't seem to stop eating. With all of us here, surely we can make something that will help us all.
  • I would like to join if there is a weight loss group.  I've gained about 20-25 pounds since my wedding a year ago.  I've been trying to eat better and me and DH have joined a gym.  I've lost a few pounds but can use all the motivation I can get.
