Question about Methotrexate Injection

Has anyone over here had this? My HCG levels aren't dropping appropriately, so need to get it but don't know what to expect, any advice?

    I'm so sorry for your loss. I don't know about this injection as I had a D&C, but I have seen it mentioned quite a bit on the miscarriage board.  Maybe try there?  GL.

    I have had this for 2 seperate ectopics. 

    It's a shot that goes in your lower back muscle (the same size and place as the progesterone shot goes)

    It's chemotherapy and it breaks up cells.

    I suffered after it..it was very painful/labor like cramps about 3-6 days after the shot.  The first 2 days I was always fine.

    One time I had to get another round of the shot because the first one didn't work.

(Beta 19 Prog 13) -Ectopic Pg - (Beta 27, 67, 430, 850) - methotrexate shot & biopsy -Forced 3 month Break 1/4/10 - Uterine septum removed by Hysteroscopy 1/18/10 - Told I have inflammation in uterus. 6 weeks of antibiotics. 2/27/10 - Another confirmed ectopic. 2 shots of methotrexate after an ER visit. Currently doing acupuncture and trying to lose weight. TTC since 3/07 -

    I am so sorry you are going through this! I've only had Methotrexate to treat my Crohn's so i'm sure the dosage is different for you. I do remember it making me very naseous, so I'd ask for some zofran if you can. Best of luck and again, i'm so sorry you're going through this.

    I had this to treat my (suspected) ectopic as well.  It is an IM injection, and I received mine in my thigh, not my lower back, but I am sure either location works.  I needed several days off work (3-5 I think) and it was pretty uncomfortable.  I experienced heavy cramping & tightness in my abdomen.  It was difficult to stand up straight and difficult to walk.  Also (TMI) I found it painful to use the restroom as well.

    I am so sorry for your loss.

    I'm so sorry for your loss.  I've had two methotrexate injections to treat my ectopic pregnancy after my first IVF cycle.  My levels continued to increase after the first injection, so the doctor ordered a second 10 days later.  The shot was given in my lower back/butt by two nurses doing simultaneous injections.  I didn't have any side affects, although the doctor did tell me not to drink alcohol for two weeks and to stay out of the sun for four weeks. I was also told that we'd have to wait "at least a month or two" before starting an FET cycle.
    August 2008 - Started TTC November 2009 - IUI#1 - BFN December 2009 - IUI#2 - BFN January 2010 - IUI#3 - BFN February 2010 - IUI#4 - BFN May 2010 - IUI#5 - BFN July/August 2010 - IVF#1 - Ectopic Pregnancy December 2010 - FET#1 - BFN February/March 2011 - FET#2 - BFP! TWINS BORN ON 11/11/11!!

    I don't have any advice with respect to the methotrexate injection, but wanted to tell you how sorry I am for your loss.  ((Hugs))
