Growing up, I collected flamingo stuff.
Then I started a Fiestaware collection. But when I got married 5 years ago (and inspired by the Barefoot Contessa) I got white dishes and serving pieces.
Before C, I also liked handbags/clutches.
I also went through a paper phase, including notecards.
I am a collector/hoarder of jewelry (I go through phases - statement necklaces, coctial rings, etc.), scarves and decorative paper napkins and serving pieces, cake plates being my favorite, but also platters and bowls. And I love glassware!

I collect law enforcement mugs, but I only accept the ones given to me by actual employees of that agency. I like knowing the people so there is as story behind it...like my USSS mug from an agent...good story there....that started this whole collection.
I think it just sullies the collection to try and obtain them by just buying them. But that is just me.
Still working on an FBI mug...

I guess you could say I collect books. You only have to come a few feet into my home to see that I have at least a thousand of them, not including what the kids have. I don't really consider it a collection though.
I used to collect bobbin lace bobbins and slew of various Victorian and Deco needlework tools and toiletry items like glove pullers, stretchers, button hooks, and shoe clips. Curiously, my SMIL also has a small collection of similar Victorian items.
My desire to collect mesh Deco handbags ended when I found the be-all-end-all perfect piece for my collection on Ebay. And the box was lost by the postal service. Getting my money back doesn't mean a lot when I'll never be able to replace a one of a kind antique. I'm still pissed about it.

I collect Precious Moments figurines. I get maybe 1 or 2 a year. Usually a romantic one from DH and a Christmas one from MIL.
I also collect books. I have a hard time letting them go, and because of that I try to buy hard backs of the ones I really like so i can let the paper back ones go.
My H would say I collect dogs though I don't want any more then the 3 we have.
