TTC After a Loss 6 Months+

Update on RE #1

Overall a good consult. He's good at laying out information, agrees it's time to start intervention but is willing to go at whatever pace we feel comfortable with. Said I had good FSH #s (5.2) and that he thinks egg quality/ovarian reserve won't be an issue. Is sending me for an HSG and DH for an SA in the next few weeks.

He suggested PCO as something I may have, but stressed that he doesn't think it's a "problem" with the way my body works and he doesn't want me to think of it as a disease or a syndrome, when in some women it's a relatively normal variation. He thinks I have lots of healthy eggs that are trying to be produced each month.

He also told us we could do a clomid cycle the same month we do the HSG, with or without insemination. That will depend on DH's numbers, I think.

We have a consult with a second clinic on Friday, so no decisions until then, but overall, I feel good about jumping into this! And a little sad, too. Part of me was still holding out hope that he'd look at me and say, "What are you doing here? Get out! There's nothing wrong with you!"

Re: Update on RE #1

  • That's good news. I'm glad it went well. I hope it continues to go well! I think DH was actually, hoping for the same thing as you when we went to the RE. I'm more of the jump in with both feet where DH is one to stick a toe in and wait awhile. Good luck!

  • Well, he also didn't say there's something gravely wrong, either, so I guess it could've been worse :) That FSH number rocks my fvckin' socks, man. That's awesome. That's, like, frame it and hang it on the wall awesome.

I'm glad the first consult went well. I'll be interested to hear what the second doc has to say and see where you guys go from here!

  • Sounds like a really good visit!  It's great to hear that he's willing to work with you & DH at whatever speed you want.  Hope the second consult goes just as well!

i know what you mean about wanting him to say get out of here. I've had daydreams in RE's waiting room that I'd get into the monitoring u/s and they'd say "you don't need injections! you're pregnant!" um. . .ok crazy lady (me)

  • I'm glad it went well.  I'm sorry that it made you a little sad, though, but your feelings are completely understandable.  This whole process is a lot sad, so why wouldn't a simple consult be?

  • It sounds like you had an excellent first appointment with him.  I didn't realize you had a second visit set up with another clinic - smart.  GL hon!

  • I'm glad the appt went well and that he is ok with letting you go at your own pace.  I'm sure that is really helpful.  I wish he would have said that too, but I agree with Colinda, he didn't say you're broken and that's it....so that's good news!
