    We use non-petroleum jelly at bedtime only.

    I use Bordoux's (SP?) Butt Paste if I know that DD will be in her diaper for a while, i.e. road trips.  She has never had a diaper rash to date!  Yes

    Okay, I'm an @sshat, and voted for talc...and totally didn't mean to. We use the cornstarch for pee diapers and butt paste for poopy diapers.

    I voted SS: For every day diaper rash type stuff we use aveeno diaper rash cream. But sometimes, after a bath or a long day, I'll notice that her little "thigh rolls" (she has little fat rolls right at the top of her thighs/by her crotch), are moist in between the skin folds.  So I'll use regular, good ol' Johnson and Johnson baby powder on the creases right there.  But that's not very often, maybe once per week, if that.

    I never used anything with either of my kids for every day. DD has never had a rash,and DS only had one while he was teething. I put a little bit of butt paste on it and it was gone the next day. I bought some for DD too, in case she ever gets a rash.

    For those of you who use something at all diaper changes, why do you use it? To prevent rash?

    We use Johnson's cornstarch powder at every change. Yes, it is to prevent rash, and it works. DS had several rashes early on, even once we started CDs. We thought maybe he was sensitive to wetness, so we started powder after every change. He has not had a rash since. We will continue to pwoder.
