Help DD won't eat solids

we've been trying to feed hannah solids since sept.7. She won't eat anything and if she dose she will choke on it. we make it all really  runny . She will still nurse from me she's EBF.  Is there anything I can try or should I stop for a few days then try again?

Re: Help DD won't eat solids

  • We started DS around that age and solids were a huge fail for a while. Like your LO, he choked and vomitted on anything.  Any plan for "just veggies" or "only homemade foods" went out the window at that point!  I was so worried he'd never progress.

One day it just clicked - we tried giving him yogurt since he had an ear infection and was on antibiotics.  he LOVED it.  I think giving him something that he liked let him practice swallowing, and made him excited to try new foods.  It was still slow ramping up, but now he is great. yesterday he scarfed down 4 ounces of pureed chicken marsala (leftovers from my dinner); today he plowed through 4 ounces of yogurt and mango and a meal of pureed peas/green beans/canellini beans/garlic and parsley... he eats puffs, mums, cereal, any fruit or veg...

Point is - don't despair.  Some kids just take longer especially if they are BF (my LO was EBF too and still nurses/takes BM bottle 6 times a day). Keep trying and try not to make it too stressful on either of you. GL!

  • I would hold off for now and try in a week or so.  She just might not be ready yet.  Solids aren't about nutrition yet so you're okay to just keep BFing.
