I'm going to the library and I need book recs

Pretty please. I'll read anything. Fiction, non-fiction, self-help, recipe books, whatever.

  • Post

This post was on Money Matters a week or so ago.  It's an awesome collection of recommended books.  My book list got much longer after reading that post.

    anything written by Michael Chabon

    anything by Jonathon Safran Foer

    White Teeth, Zadie Smith

Another Bullshit Night in Suck City, Nick Flynn

  • One of my favorite books is "Firefly Lane" by Kristin Hannah.  And just about anything by Jodi Piccoult.

  • Three cups of tea is definatly on my list. Also just read Cutting For Stone. Finished I See You Everywhere a while ago, it was good but a tad depressing. My favorite of all time is A Tree Grows In Brooklyn. ETA: Oops! I'm such a big reader that I posted forgetting that I'd been on 6+. Did't mean to crash your board!

  • But if you're ever in the mood for a GREAT non-fiction read, I HIGHLY recommend "Jewels:  A Secret History" by Victoria Finlay:

    https://www.randomhouse.com/catalog/display.pperl?isbn=9780345466945

All about where precious stones come from, the history behind them, & the author actually went to the places & spoke with the people who procure these gems.  I couldn't put it down!   (She also has another book, "Color" where she did the same thing with pigments in paints.)

    Happy Reading!!!

  • Interested in a great YA series? The Hunger Games series is being devoured (no pun intended) by all of my friends. It's a great read. Suzanne Collins is the author.

  • Thanks everyone!! I got a few of the books from the first two posts but I am bookmarking this because I pledged I would read 50 books in 2010 and I've only read 17 so far. I'm going to read all your suggestions.

  • If you're looking for VERY light, fluffy but entertaining books I like anything by Candace Bushnell or Plum Sykes.

I've heard great things about The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.
