I knew they were going to draw blood. I told her I get woozy at the thought (have passed out at the sight of my own blood in the past, never been able to donate blood because I get too nervous). Well, the nurse/tech decided to do it with me sitting up on the plinth, which I questioned her on, but she said she was sure. So I had my hubby sit behind me- good thing because I got all flushed, hot and sweaty, felt like I couldn't swallow, and was about to go down! So I spent the next 10 minutes laying in the exam room with the lights off and a cold towel on my head.
Other than that, the appointment consisted of just education (stuff me and the hubby already know thanks to the fact that we read) so, nothing too exciting! No ultra sound or anything, so when I asked her if i could be pretty confident in my due date (no period since december due to bc) she said, well lets do a doppler just for fun. If we don't hear anything you're probably just 7 weeks. SO.... we heard nothing
7 weeks it is! Next appt in 4 weeks with the doc, hopefully it'll be more fun!
Re: 1st appointment was a total let down for hubby!
I agree with PP. The fun stuff is to come. GL at your next appt
And, sorry about the bloodwork. I absolutely HATE blood work!
BFP 9/8/10... D&C 10/18/10

BFP 10/7/2011; EDD 7/15/12 - STICK BABY STICK!!!!
If you haven't had a period since December and don't know when you O'd, you really should get an u/s to date the pregnancy. An accurate EDD is important, especially if you have complications in your pregnancy and need to make decisions about whether to deliver the baby or not.
Can you call back and talk to someone, or find another OB who will do one?
No, I wasn't charting. (I don't even know how to, but I def see why it's useful!!) I started a new birth control last fall and my periods went away as a result. I stopped taking the pill (mid cycle) July 27th so I've been using that as my "last period". I'm confident that I'm not any further along, but I thought that they would wanna double check just because it's a kind of weird situation. Since I didn't have a period there's no way for me to really know when I ovulated to have an "exact" date. But I didn't see a doc today, just his nurse, so next appt should be better.
