Thoughts on fertility monitors

Sorry if this is a newb question...does anyone use fertility monitors? I have been buying the cheapo OPKs and have never gotten a true positive. The few positives recorded on my chart were close, but not 100% (I was just trying to make myself feel better). If you've had experience with them is there a brand you would recommend or are these something I should just stay away from?

I ask because FF took my crosshairs away today (CD33). :( So frustrating!

Re: Thoughts on fertility monitors

  • Hi. I bought the Clear Blue Easy Fertility Monitor well over a year ago...and I stopped using it after 5-6 months because my irregular cycles (anywhere from 19 to 60 days) only confused the results. If you have relatively regular cycles, no doubt it's really helpful. GL!

  • I purchased a CBEF as well, but only used it one cycle. Once I started seeing an RE I really figured there was no point in using it. I have internet cheapie OPK's to use when needed.

  • I also have the clear blue easy fertility monitor and I used it for about a year. I loved that it showed me medium, high, and peak levels of fertility. I am super regular though so I'm sure if you have irregular cycles it can get frustrating. Overall, I loved it, but TI just wasn't enough to get me pregnant. :(

  • I used a CBEFM for 6 months- I am very regular though so it really didnt tell me anything I didnt already know. It did help to see the peak reading so we knew exactly when to try BUT I gave myself a time limit that I would try using the monitor and those 6 months came and went. Once we went to the RE he said consider this as us firing the monitor and hiring a whole new staff. I have to admit it was somewhat liberating not having to turn on the monitor the next morning :) Good Luck!!
