Babies on the Brain

Guys, I'm so frustrated

with my deodorant. I never used to use it, and then my first pregnancy sign was excess sweating and stank. Okay, so I tried a few different kinds and finally just went with Dove Sensitive or something like that.

Now, postpartum, I apply it almost hourly it seems. I've tried "clinical strength" ones, I'm pitting out shirts instantly, I febreeze my sweaters. I'm at a loss!

Is there anything else I can try before talking to my doctor about it? I assume they made prescription deodorant/antiperspirant, right?

Re: Guys, I'm so frustrated

  • There's degree clinical strength, but I haven't found it to be any better than regular deodorant.  I really like Mitchum.  Definitely outshines regular ole deodorant.

I was a sweat factory for a couple months pp.  I was a nasty mess.  I would guess that this will go away at some point.

  • When I was pregnant I'd put baby powder on before the deodorant. That helped a ton.

  • That really sucks! There are prescription strength deodorants. I hope you find something that works.
  • I went through a period of time where I was excessively sweaty.   From about 29 - 34 (ugh).   I had to stick to black or white shirts because colors showed the wet rings.   (plus I lived in a climate that was over 90 for 8 months out of the year)

I know, I heard about that. That's intense. Maybe in a year, haha.

    I'll try the drysol. ugh.

  • I don't know what's worse.  Those clinical ones and certain dry can sweat other places.   Like your feet and or crotch.

I don't know I use powder and change my brands often so my body doesn't get used to it.

  • I like the Dove Clinical Protection.  But do like the directions say and put it on at night before you go to bed.  I put some on in the morning, too, but only 1 click instead of the 2 clicks at night.

  • I put on my antiperspirant before I got to bed and in the morning.  I also layer it with powder (lush's silky underwear), helps a lot.

  • I put a little bit of Tea Tree Oil on the applicator before I rub it under my arms. At least if I end up sweating, it never stinks. Other than that- I use the Mitchem for women gels. I have not liked any of the prescription strength products.

  • Certain Dri! Put it on beofore bed, but not right after shaving or it will burn like crazy. There is also an AM version that I use too because I feel stinky if I don't put anything on in the morning.

Ditto on the Certain Dri. I use it at night before bed and love it. It normally only burns if you use it after you shave. You still use regular deodorant during the day just add the Certain Dri at night. You can get it at Walmart. Use white vinegar in the wash to get the sweat smell out of your clothes. Clinical strength really only has like 1% more of whatever the powerful ingredient in deodorant is so it's not going to help much.
