  I am also due in January and opted to have it right before the start of the holidays and was going to suggest maybe Thanksgiving weekend as most people have off that Thursday and Friday and you can have it on Sat. or Sun, but if you won't be traveling then, its hard b/c Xmas would be hectic for those buying presents and March will be kind of late for you and it will be stressful with a baby already trying to return or get room ready.  If you have to maybe xmas then. I was writing while thinking..sorry. lol

  I am due in January, no shower planned yet, but like your idea of March, since you live further away, it would be nice way to celebrate new baby's arrival and everyone will get to see the baby too!  You & the baby will both be guest of honor!!

  I guess only downside of having after would be you would have to buy necessities for the baby to get you by till the shower and/or also if anyone asks for gift ideas for Christmas, just say things for the baby... I figured that's what I'll do, there is really nothing I need for myself, my first baby is coming and she is all I need!

  I would wait until March.  If people ask what you want for Christmas (they do in my family) then just ask for things for the baby (you can register and they can check it out).  Even for your DH...they can do the same.  Family members that are close to you (parents, brothers, sisters) would hopefully get things that you will need when baby is born (monitor, breast pump or bottles, PNP, carseat, etc).

  I am due Jan 30th and with the holidays and potential for bad weahter in Jan, we are doing ours at the end of October and before Thanksgiving in November. My hosts prefer this over any date in December, Jan or after the baby is born. Which is good for me, since I want everything in order before the baby comes and we can avoid last minute shopping trips for things we need.

  i am also due in jan, and am having my shower november 6th. having it right before the holiday's is probably not the best idea, as everyone is buying christmas gifts and what not, and not looking to throw in another gift, plus people being out of town and what not. if you're okay with it being after the baby is born shoot for march .. otherwise i would suggest in october or early november.

  I am due Feb 9th and the hostess of my shower decided on Oct. 10th, most people wait til closer to the due date but considering the holidays are so busy and expensive for everyone it seems like the best choice for us. The people invited also are relieved at that idea because its already so hectic. I would talk to friends and fam and see what they think if you are really undecided, the only thing about doing it at Christmas is that I think it will lose some of the focus, everyone will be thinking about last minute gifts and cooking and all. You know your family and friends best, so good luck and congrats!

  Mine are October 25th and Nov 7th. I am having them a little early because I work in retail and my life is over after the first week of November. Baby is due on January 25th.?
