T usually sleeps for at least a six hour stretch at night, waking up around 3-4 am to eat and then back down for another 2-3 hours. The last two nights he has woken up every 30 minutes - 2 hours screaming! Last night I brought him into bed with me so that I could comfort him back to sleep more easily. His daytime naps are usually 45-60 minutes and now I'm lucky to get 20 minutes. He is in a great mood during the day, despite the lack of sleep.
Oh, the kicker...DH is out of town all week! Does this sound like the beginning of the 4 month wakeful, just a little early? Do you think he is just off b/c DH isn't home? How long does the 4 month wakeful last?
It seems particulary cruel that this starts when DH is out of town and mommy doesn't have backup! He is so going to grandma's this afternoon so I can take a nap!
Re: Tell me about the 4 month wakeful
Evan started this same thing at 3 1/2 months. I googled "wonder weeks" at the recommendation of some other Nesties and found a lot of good information. It explained a lot about what Evan was experiencing and helped me to be more understanding.
For Evan, this phase lasted about a month. When we were at our wits end (after 4 weeks of getting almost no sleep) we did 3 things that seemed to help Evan:
* Stopped swaddling him (he was starting to fight it and would scream instead of start to get sleepy)
* Removed the sleep positioner we used to help his reflux
* We did progressive waiting (Ferber method for CIO)
We did these 3 things all at the same time, and by night 3 we had 3 minutes of crying at bed time and maybe 1 night waking for a bottle.
Now, at 6 months we get about 11 hours of sleep and no night feedings. And Evan was never a good sleeper and is still a bad napper.
Just know that this will pass and just do what you need to do so you, your DH, and LO can get through it as easy as possible.

I could have written your post word for word minus the DH being out of town part.
We have our four month pedi appt tomorrow and plan to ask her about all of this. However, we crumbled and put her in the bassinet in our room last night and she slept from 8:30 - 3:30 and went back down for the remainder of the night. I wonder if her sleep positioner is working for her and we should use that in the crib? Who knows.
Hugs to you, I know this isn't easy!
Thanks ladies! I'm hoping tonight is better. My mom took T for a few hours and I got an hour nap in, which is exactly what I needed. I told DH to rest up at the hotel b/c he is on duty ALL weekend!!
Lilygirl- sorry to hear you are going through this right now too! I think this might be worse than the newborn stage. At least then all he did was sleep all day. Now he is full of energy ALL DAY LONG! Good luck to you!
