LO's reaction to baby oragel...

My poor LO is teething already. His eye teeth are coming in. I don't know if they will break through now. I seem to remember my first son doing this too. They bulged and he drooled, fussed, never slept, etc but then they kind of subsided. A couple other friends said this happened with their kids too.

Anyway, he's been super fussy, wakeful, biting hands, soaking shirts with drool, etc for about 5 days. I tried some baby oragel yesterday. Don't think he's a fan. He made the funniest face I've ever seen him make....kind of a WTF kind of face, but didn't cry. Then he blew all kinds of bubbles like he was trying to spit it out. Cracked me up. I rubbed what was left on my finger on my gums to try it. It is weird! Just like the dentist novacaine feeling!

  • Haha, yeah I tried a little on my guy once too and he reacted about the same. He made the funniest face and kept trying to spit it out.

  • I haven't tried it yet. I was told by a friend that it could make DS have trouble nursing because of the way it numbs. Sounds funny though!

It's coming under more scrutiny recently because it's been found that the saliva washes it down LO's throat (like you said LO kept trying to spit it out) and numbs the back of their throat, not their gums like it's intended.

  • I just tried it on my LO yesterday! And used it today once. I recorded his face because it was THAT FUNNY! Then I tried it myself... it tasted like cherries to begin with then really gross! But it did make my mouth numb.
