Infertility

Anyone using SIRM in NY?

Just curious- if you are using them, who is your RE?  Have you been satisfied with your experience so far?  I am considering them for my first IVF cycle.

TIA!

  • There are a few ladies that I can think of off the top of my head that use them. Everyone I know who goes there loves them. But you should be able to get more information from them :)

Thanks!  All the information I got from them during my consult was very helpful.  More specifically though they have an new RE there- Dr Hyacinth Nicole Browne, and this is the RE that would be doing the IVF cycle.  She seems knowledegable, and is easy to communicate with but she is young.  I read through her profile but can't find any patient ratings/reviews on her.  So I am wondering if any of the NY SIRM girls have any feedback.

  • Also curious about Dr. Browne... I heard she is new to the practice.  They said she would only be in the Manhattan office Tues. and Thursday.  During your consult did they say who you would see on days she was not there?  I am sorry to be butting into your thread... I am just considering switching from Cornell to SIRM because of insurance reasons and I am also interested in people's experiences.  Thanks!

no problem- she is in the Westchester office the other days so I would just go to that office, but Dr Tortoriello is in the NY everyday I believe. Plus I think she comes to the NY office on most of her "off" afternoons.  I met with him initially and he seemed pretty knowledgeable.  His personality was a little strange- but he seemed OK overall.   I did like her when I met with her, and she has always been quick to respond to my emails.  She personally called me with lab results as well which I appreciated.  I am just hoping she has a fair amount of IVF experience, as I only have enough insurance to cover 1 attempt and maybe part of a second.

    Good luck with your decision!

  • Thanks for sharing your experience/info... Compared to Cornell and it does sound like you get a lot more personal attention at SIRM.  Good luck to you too.

    definately this :)

I was at cornell and switched to SIRM and love it.  (Cornell is great but after 50,000 OOP we switched after failed mTESE and insurance coverage).  You do get much more personal attention, your RE does all your monitoring and you can communicate with nurses and RE via email.

anyway, Dr. T is my RE and I love him, he is a little odd but great.  I know I am in very good hands, I also really love my nurses.  I've seen Dr. Brown when Dr. T is on vacation and she is very sweet, very thorough and explains everything and while young she's got SIRM behind her and Dr. T.

I don't regret switching at all.

It's been a long journey. TTC since 9/06. multiple IUI's and IVF's and 4 m/c's. IVF#3 = BFP, twins, induced at 34w6d due to baby b passing away (no explanation). Delivered on 35w1d, Baby A - baby girl, and Baby B - baby boy, our little angel.
