Postpartum Depression

Where do you go if you think you have PPD?

Your OB?

Can you even get PPD almost 9 months after having a baby?

I'm at a loss, I am lost...I don't even know where to start.  Sorry for bombarding you with these questions, but thanks for any answers!

Re: Where do you go if you think you have PPD?

  • You can get PPD anytime in the first year, or within a year of weaning from bfing even.

I asked for help at my son's 6 month checkup....we see a family doctor but anyone should be able to point you in the right direction...OB, pedi, your doc, etc.

    Good luck!

  • I would call my OB, but that's because I also regard him as my PCP.  I think you should call the doc you feel most comfortable with.

  • I called my OB first, then a psychiatrist.  Your OB should be able to point you in the right direction.

  • Thank you!

  • I was just diagnosed this morning. I went to my OB.
  • I preferred my primary because they do usually have more knowledge on the newer drugs and combos. My OB wasnt even sure what I could BF on or anything. Just my experience but even a pedi can treat you. GL
