Postpartum Depression

Zoloft & anxiety

Did anyone with a preexisting anxiety condition have a difficult time adjusting to zoloft? I have panic attacks which I normally control w/out medication and started on zoloft last friday.  For the past few mornings I've woken up highly anxious/on the verge of panic attacks and it takes about 2 hours for me to return to normal. I'm fine for the rest of the day I'm seeing my OB today so I'm going to bring this up, but was wondering if anyone else had experienced it and if it went away as you got used to the medication.

Re: Zoloft & anxiety

  • I would definitely bring that up with your OB.

I was on Klonopin & Celexa, but off Klonopin by the time I switched to Zoloft.  I haven't had trouble with panic attacks since the switch to Zoloft, but of course, everyone is different.

  • I've not had anxiety issues in the past, but actually just told my mom a few hours ago that I think I need to talk to my dr.  I've been feeling like I'm on the verge of a panic attack or something for a few hours now.  I've had moments of feeling like this a few times in the past week or so, but tonight is by far the worst.  I was on Zoloft for ppd after W with no issues, but I'm thinking its not working for me this time around.  I seriously could throw up and or burst into tears right now...ugh.

  • {{hugs}} I hope you are feeling better today lauren.  I talked to my OB yesterday and he said it sounded like I just hadn't reached the right dosage yet so he instructed me to up it on Friday to see if it helps.
  • Same thing for me with zoloft. Had to have the clonazepam for the anxiety. And let me tell you besides port pardum I have been dealing with anxiety for years and its ALWAYS worse in the morning. was just talking to my love about that this morning and how he needs to get up earlier so I just feel so alone. Zoloft worked great for me the first time but the clonazepam saved me
