Today, I had my first experience with Addison spitting up ALL over my boob. That was fun. I was switching sides, had already burped her from the right side, and was getting her in position to nurse on the left. She spit up ALL OVER my left boob, down my nursing tank, all over the pillow. I swear she spit up everything she ate! All day, she's been even more "spitty" than usual (although nothing as bad as this morning).
We're doing everything the pedi has told us to do...feeding 10-12 minutes on a side, burping in between, holding her upright after nursing for 15-30 minutes. And it seems like the spitting is only getting worse (today especially). What else can we do? She doesn't seem uncomfortable or fussy when she does spit...it just comes out of her mouth without any warning.
If you have a spitting baby, is there anything else we can try to help her out (or maybe it's more about helping me out and making me feel better)?
Re: Spit, spit, spit, and more spit
That's what the pedi calls Addison too. I guess it's "normal," just frustrating. :-(
my little one is a spitter. it doesn't seem to matter what we do, something will come up. feed her less often, but more frequently-- it comes up. feed her sitting upright-- it comes up. burp her more often-- it comes up. keep her upright 20 minutes after she eats-- it comes up 21 minutes later.
in fact, there have been a few times when i fed her slowly, burped her often, kept her upright and everything stayed down for over an hour... and then as soon as she went down for any kind of playtime-- something came up. just can't win!
This sounds so much like us! I've tried everything and there is no consistent pattern except he ALWAYS spits something up!
