Pregnant after a Loss

just curious....

we lost our first baby at 7 weeks this weekend.  After trying for over a year.

Just looking for some hope at this point.

How long did you wait before TTC again after a loss??

How many of you got a healthy pregnancy/baby right after???

It just scares me to try again.   The pain & sadness i felt, i would not want to go through again... or often.    If its not meant to be, wish i just knew.

But, as the doctor said, atleast now we know, we CAN get pregnant... so, that is a good thing i guess.   She gave us the go ahead to try again... i just dont want to push things.

Also, after a loss... does ur period go back to being your normal cycle, or start a new cycle???

 THANKS!!!

Re: just curious....

  • I'm sorry for your loss.

I had a D&C, so that was the first day of my cycle. I got AF 35 days later. My cycles were off after my m/c and I ended up taking lots of vitamins and charting to try to get them back in order.

My doctor had us wait two full cycles to try again and I got pg on the 3rd cycle trying again.

    BFP #1 9/23/09. Missed MC 10w3d D&C 11/3/09.

    BFP #2 4/13/10. Bridget born 12/28/10

  • I'm very sorry for your loss *hugs*

I was told to wait one cycle to start trying again, it took 7 to get pregnant again. So far this pregnancy has been healthy.

Everyone is different as far as their cycles go post m/c. Again, I am very sorry for your loss.

  • I'm so sorry for your loss.  Everyone's dr. is different, but mine asked me to wait 2 cycles before trying again.  After that it took us 6 cycles to get pregnant again (we just got our BFP last week).  It's scary yes, even more so now that I'm actually pregnant again.  But as several wise women on these boards have said before me, my desire to have a child far outweighs my fear of another loss.  Our cycle took a few months to start getting back to normal.  Even though it got close, it wasn't the same (we used to ovulate on day 14, but now it's a full week later+) and my cycles are a few days longer.  Good luck, and big hugs.

  • I'm sorry for your loss. It totally sucks and isn't fair that it happens to any of us. :(

I had a missed m/c @ 8 weeks in Dec. 2009 and then a D&C. Had a period a month later, got pregnant that cycle (doc said I didn't need to wait) and then lost that one just before 5 weeks. My hcg never went over 40 and I believe it was too soon after the D&C to implant properly. So, that was February. Took a short break while taking herbs and vitamins to help prolong my luteal phase. Conceived this baby in July. So far, so good.

  • I'm so sorry hon.  It breaks my heart to think of another woman going through that.  Just give yourself time to heal, physically and emotionally.

I honestly don't remember how long it took for AF.  I m/c naturally (well, with the assistance of some nasty drugs) and the doc told us to wait two full cycles.  That was June of last year and we started trying again at the end of August.  We were successful at the end of Jan/beginning of Feb this year.

HUGS to you... just keep your chin up and have faith in your body, though I know it's not easy to do right now.

what kind of vitamins/herbs can be taken to make the luteal phase last longer??   I'm beginning to think mine is short. Because i never got a positive ovulation test.  which i know is impossible.....    TIA
