Pregnant after IF

Where do you plan on having baby sleep before the crib?

We planned on having them sleep in (separately) pack 'n play bassinets. Now seeing them in person, I am not so sure, it seems a little flimsy. I wonder if they can sleep in the newborn napper portion of the PNP every night?

We really don't want to buy/register anything additional since I am sure they will go in their cribs eventually.

Re: Where do you plan on having baby sleep before the crib?

  • Paige slept swaddled in her swing for 8 weeks.  We will first try the pnp (not napper - just the regular bassinet) first, and if they are not sleeping well - we will go back to the swing.  We expect them to stay in our room for a full 6 months, just like Paige did.

  • I'm pretty sure we're starting them both off in the same crib in their own room.
  • With my DD she mostly slept in the bouncer or the swing for the first few weeks.  We have a spare room and i set the pack n play up there and she slept there from about 2-4 months....then we switched to the crib.
  • DD1 slept in a bedside co-sleeper for 6 months, at which point DH and I were ready to move her to her crib.  (The plan hadn't been for that long, but neither of us was ready to move her at 3-4 months!)  We have the same plan for DD2. :)

We were going to up until 10 seconds ago when I figured out that the bassinet level only holds up to 15lbs.  Now we are going to have to figure something else out.

But now that I'm looking even the twin pnp bassinet says for up to 15 lbs.  I don't get it.....

But what about if they are in their own PNP with bassinet - that will not equal up to 15 lbs. That is what we wanted to do. What do you think you are going to do now?? :-(

  • Well, the reason we were going to put them in a pnp (one) was so it would be RIGHT by my side of the bed, not just in our room, so that I can nurse without having to get out of bed and get them, but I don't think that's going to happen unless we purchase a twin pnp.

So obviously the twin PNP has more of a weight limit - that makes sense. That can work for you don't you think? We are getting 2 PNPs - my bedroom is pretty big. I am just iffy on the flimsy-ness of the bassinet feature. Maybe it was just set up poorly at the store?

  • We are getting a bassinet from my SIL that we will put in our room. If she doesn't like that or seems to not fit well, then we'll put her in her crib across the hall.

  • We have an Arms Reach Co-Sleeper (the full size) that we are going to put both the boys in for the first couple of months, hopefully.  It will depend on their size of course.

We don't have a twin one...but the regular bassinet feature was very durable and Paige slept in it until she was 6 months old.  We will just use two separate ones.  I don't like them sleeping in the same one.  Some research has shown that twins have the tendency to turn towards each other and breathe in the same air.  It is a SIDS risk.

  • Our plan is to put the baby in a bassinet in our room for 6 months.

  • We'reusing an arms reach cosleeper for the first few months to help with nursing.

  • Our goal is the pack n play's bassinet feature.  She'll be in our room that way and it has a changing table attached so that'll be great for the middle of the night.  I'm not sure yet how long we'll have her sleep in our room before going to her crib.

OMG - I think one of our friends who recently had a baby used this & it looks like a great solution! I think i may add this to my registry & remove the PNP. And the wieght limit is 25 lbs! Thank you so much for posting this!

  • btw, even with one it was difficult to get him out of the PNP without getting up, so I'm guessing with 2 and trying to tandem feed in the middle of the night, I'm going to be getting out of bed in either case. might just be easier to have it all in their room, I'm thinking.
  • Ours will be in the full size AR cosleeper in our room for a few months
  • Arms Reach Mini Co-Sleeper next to my bed.  I hope to breastfeed and want him close by.

  • Our nursery is on a different floor than our bedroom. The plan is to set up a pnp in the living room (next to our room) and have them sleep in there for the first month or two until we get breastfeeding down and are on more of a schedule. I will try to put them down for naps in their cribs so they are used to them when we transition for nighttime.

  • After much research, DH and I decided to recently register for two Fisher Price Rock n' play sleepers. I was back and forth about 2 PNP's, then 2 Arms Reach co sleepers, 2 bassinets, etc. but the weight limits and space they take up really had me doubting it. We wanted the double playpen for down stairs so I really didn't want the master bedroom with 2 additional PNP's. After many recommendations and great reviews of the Fisher Price RNP, that was our solution. They fold up compact to put away when you want to organize the room and are easy to move around throughout the house. Hopefully it all works out for the best.
