Babies: 3 - 6 Months

How much tummy-time is your 3-4 month old doing each day?

How many sessions?

How long each session?

  • My 3-mo. old HATES it and cries the whole time.  I try to do it at least once a day for about 5 min. max.  She does have pretty good neck and head control anyway from sitting up on our laps and in her Bumbo, but the upper body strength isn't there yet.

    Exactly the same here!

  • We do about few times a day for about 20 mins each time.  I can usually get a load of laundry in or dishes unloaded in time before he starts to get cranky.

  • DS likes tummy time, so we do it 2-3 times a day for about 10-15 minutes.

  • DD is pretty good at tummy time - she has about 4-5 sessions per day, lasting about 15-20 minutes each, give or take.  She can do the mini-push-up and lift her head 90 degrees, but she is a lazy butt and will not roll over.

Also, this.  He screams almost instantly so I usually do it once or twice a day for like 5 minutes.  He does a lot of sitting up on our laps and does have good head control also.

  • At least once a day for 20 min.

  • 1-2 sessions on the floor.  About 5-10 minutes each.  He has rolled over twice.

He gets many sessions a day on our chests.  If your LO hates tummy timem that much try laying on the floor (on your back) and putting LO on their tummy on top of you.  It's not as great as the floor but chances are LO will like it.

  • 1-2 times per day for 5-10 minuts each time - she can roll, though, so I have to keep her on her tummy.:) Thank God for the FP snail!

  • I am praying DS will be like my co-workers son and skip crawling altogether and go straight to walking because he hates tummy time.  He also has good head neck control and sits upright.  However at this rate he might be a delayed crawler.

Same here!  He will tolerate being on his tummy while lying on me, so we try to do that once or twice a day as well.
