TTC After a Loss 6 Months+

Please give an update

As we get more ladies on this board I'm having a hard time keeping up with everyone and it's been awhile since we had a general update post.

So please, tell us where your at with things.  Lurkers, we'd love to hear from you too.

Re: Please give an update

  • Since I'm entering our busy time at work we are trying on our own for now. If we aren't successful we will do a frozen transfer around january. We have been trying for 7.5 years on our own and have unexplained infertility so I'm sure I will be doing the fet in january. Just hoping we somehow get a miracle. Had my yearly check up at the obgyn and she is amazing she is so hopeful and positive it will happen for us. She also did a swab besides the pap to check for infection just to be safe, even though I have no signs and everything looked great she just wants to check because of my losses she doesn't want to take any chances. To keep my mind off things I'm planning my moms 50th bday party in december and having a big christmas party also.

  • I'm waiting to get a plan from the RE.  I have an appointment Sept 30th, which feels forever away.  It looks like the plan will be a combo of oral meds and injectibles, possibly with a trigger.  Dh and I talked yesterday and we're wanting to try 3 cycles of this.  If it doesn't work, we'll probably move forward with adoption.  We'll be OOP for a lot of it.

  • Good idea, Kristy!  It is hard to keep up.

I went for testing last month, looking at my thyroid, blood sugar, and progesterone.  My thyroid came back normal.  The lab didn't freeze my sample for the blood sugar testing, so we're redoing that this month.  My progesterone levels were low at testing time, but doctor wants to re-do that as well, since my cycle was a little shorter than normal last month.  He wants to see if they are consistently low, or if we just tested at the wrong time in my cycle.  If those tests come back normal, we'll move onto HSG and SA.

I've also started using OPKs consistently this cycle, per doctor recommendations.

DH wants to look into our adoption options as well.  He's more proactive about that than I am, but I'm willing to start looking into things.

  • I just had a endometrial polypectomy which turned into a D&C and a diagnostic laparscopy to check my fallopian tubes (I can't have an HSG because I am allergic to shellfish and therefore allergic to the dye they use.) Tubes look great and my Dr. said everything went well. I have a follow-up with him this coming Friday and then I'm on to waiting for AF to show up so I can start a clomid/IUI cycle.

I am also trying to lose a few lbs. but I recently became a vegetarian and I find myself overcompensating on carbs but I am working on it.

In addition, I am an Aries, have a pug, am very crafty and am currently unemployed. Read all about me in my blog..just click on the pumpkin in my siggy.

  • We just had an SA done on DH and it came back good.  Now, I have an OB apt on the 20th.  If this cycle is not it for us, I am going to request a referral  to an RE.

  • This is my first cycle with Clomid, so we'll see how it goes. If this one fails DH will have a SA, and then... I don't know where we'll go from there.

  • I'm on cycle 2 after miscarriage #4. We're TTA till IVF, whenever that may be. We were thinking November. But now I don't know. If the financial sky keeps falling on us, who knows when (or if) we'll do IVF. I'm 110% certain it'll just be another miscarriage anyway and am really, really having a hard time getting over that.

Meanwhile, I'm on 3 soccer teams this fall and trying to lose the lbs I managed to find during my post-loss #4 "who gives a sh!t about eating right and working out" phase which I'm also having a really, really hard time getting over.

  • I am in the process of still just trying. Stopped charting this month except CM because I feel like it makes me think about it less. Having a hard time keeping jealousy at bay etc.  Got my last BFP last year in August.

Not sure about testing etc because its all pretty new to us so any opinions would be good! Still want to try a few more months since DH and I were living an hour apart for 4 months this summer and we got good timing 2 of the months but still.

  • Just got crosshairs on a 100mg cycle of Clomid.  So we'll see if this works.

If not, we are really stuck on how to move forward.  The Dr.'s think that Clomid just isn't going to work for us and suggested when moving forward to switch to injectables.  But it's not covered by insurance.

So if this cycle fails, we really have to reevaluate.

    BUT.

We are also in the adoption process.  We're just getting started and have a long way to go, but at least it will lead us to a baby.

  • I was thinking about this today- my loss was almost a year ago. I have been seeing a RE and are on a second round of injectables with trigger and IUI and doing an HSG on Friday. If it doesn't happen after 4 cycles of IUI, we're going to move on to IVF. We live in a state that has infertility treatment so... if we max out those options, we're going to look into adoption.
  • Almost 8 weeks since I lost baby Red, 6 weeks since my D&C for the retained placenta. I feel like AF is around the corner (hopefully) since I have had some spotting today, but who knows.

I have an OB appointment next Wednesday, where I should finally get the autopsy results and the pathology report back from the placenta. I also had a thrombophilia panel run, and should receive those results as well. Still TTA until we find out those results, and I don't know how many cycles they will want me to wait, as technically I haven't even had one yet.

oh, and today my husband told me he is convinced I will be knocked up again by Christmas Surprise, mainly because I want to avoid the holidays this year and go somewhere hot, and a pregnancy would thwart my plans.

  • I'm really trying to "soak up" all this info so I can keep people strait! I'm def going to keep this post handy, thanks KristyRedBarn!

I am on cycle # 7 post m/c. This month I had an HSG and DH had SA, both good.  We tried Femara this cycle, but DH couldn't FWP bec the pressure got to him.  So this cycle I'm taking Metformin, Femara, and having IUI. ((Praying this works))

I know most ladies on here have been at this a lot longer than DH and I, but you give me strength to push forward, Thank you all.

  • m/c 3 is over, betas down to zero and D&C avoided. We've had a rough 2 weeks here, my sister announced her pg the day I started to bleed, DH was in a car accident and is expected to take up to 2 months to recover (he was rearended by an uninsured driver). Due to his health and waiting for karyotyping results we are TTA until we see a specialist.

  • My name is Jamie & I'm a veterinarian...& just left my hellaciously stressful job to move down to FL with DH where he's starting a new career (teaching, coaching) in his hometown!  At present, I'm blissfully unemployed.  :)

Dates are in my siggy.  After the m/c, realized I wasn't Oing regularly (at one point, only 2 out of 7 months).  I really think the stress of my job had a lot (if not ALL) to do with it (& maybe the m/c, too).

Tried one cycle of Clomid (it was a weird cycle & so it was hard to tell if it worked or not), & my OB wouldn't refill it because I O'ed on my own the following month (yeah, on CD25).  My thyroid tested normal, but that's all the testing they've done so far.

So now I'm 8dpo on the first month where I've O'ed normally since my BFP a year ago.  ::fingers crossed::  Of course, I have major MF.  And sorry this is so long...I'm a rambler, too!

  • Kristy - great idea!

i'm in a non-medicated cycle post my bfp/not bfp/m/c last month. I actually feel surprisingly good about it - I just feel absolutely at ease with it all, maybe knowing that getting pg is possible again after 2 years(I'm not talking about it working out . . .but you get the idea), maybe it's just the timing, or maybe it's the acupuncture - which I really love and am going tomorrow!

next for us: (these are all unknown maybe-s: get 2nd opinion, do another medicated IUI, move on to IVF, have appointment with adoption agency, or continue on our own).

m/c#1 07/16/08 (11 weeks), m/c#2 10/10/08 (8 weeks). and then nothing since except every test possible (no answers). IUI#1 and #2: BFNs Super lucky to be buddies with Peetie. Our out of nowhere, surprise DD born 5/29/2011

  • This post has been really helpful in keeping everyone straight.

I feel like I'm setting up camp at the RE.  As long as AF shows up before Thursday then I will be having surgery on Monday.  They are going to remove my right tube, fix my left tube and remove scar tissue from my uterus.  Then the next cycle we will begin injectibles.  Doc's are giving me a 10-12% chance even with injectibles and 25-35% chance that a future pregnancy will be ectopic.  So we are holding on for the ride and hoping for the best.

Oh, & I've been TTC for almost 16 months. 10 months since our loss.  I had an HSG & DH had an SA over the summer.  Beyond stellar results on both.  Today is 3DPO on our first Clomid cycle.

Connor Thomas 6/6/08. Discovered missed miscarriage at 17 wks 3 days, D&C 11/25/09. Please, please, please - BFP 5/21/11, EDD 2/1/11. Beta@12DPO=52, Beta@14DPO=158. U/S 7/7/11 shows strong baby measuring a couple days ahead!!! Pregnancy Ticker
  • 14th month trying overall, 5th month since last miscarriage (I don't have normal cycles, I've got to count in months - I think I've only had like 5 cycles that entire time).  Currently 2dpiui, our second medicated cycle.  Clomid doesn't seem to work for me, so cycle 1 was clomid alone, cycle 2 was clomid and injectibles (which worked great!).  Feeling hopeful :)

  • Sorry to be so late to the party - busy day!  Our loss info is in my siggy.  We are on our fifth cycle of trying, and DH and I have decided that we will see an RE soon if nothing happens to discuss whether he/she thinks I need to have my septum removed.  We're thinking after 6 cycles, but we haven't set that for sure.  I want to be proactive, but at the same time I know it can take time for a totally "normal" couple, so I don't want to rush too much.  So, just hanging in there and hoping!
  • Well it's almost exactly a year from m/c 1. Crazy. We've been actively ttcal for 9 months now. Discovered I only O on clomid. So this cycle I was bumped to 100 mgs. Today was the last day of hot flash meds. Hoping dh will be ready for fwp week! I'll be on estrodiol fro cd 8-12 and then prometrium once I get chs. If/when I get another bfp I'll do supps as well to keep my pro levels up. All testing after m/c 2 came back normal. But my levels dropped crazy fast that time so they're hopin pro will do the trick

  • Lurker coming out! I started to post here but right after I got a BFP so I just kind of left, not wanting to upset anyone. I'm currently going through our 3rd m/c though so I'm back here. I'm just hoping that AF won't take too long to come back so we can start TTCAL again.

  • Its been six months since our loss, and I finally feel like my body has regulated itself.  I have not gone back to the doctor since my post mc care, but I'm debating a check in.  I feel like we haven't been trying long enough since the loss to warrant going in...I have a LO at home, so we know I can do this, I just want to be pregnant again.  I feel depressed most of the time.

  • Late reply, but, we are in month 19 of TTC and 9 months TTCAL.  I had my first RE appointment last week and was dx with probable Endo + hypothyroid, and definite low morphology for DH.

We are going to try Femara + IUI next cycle and are completing testing this month.  Today I have the HSG and a thyroid re-check to determine if meds are necessary.

  • I just had my testing return yesterday with MTHFR so we're waiting for a game plan from my OB and I'm assuming an appt with a specialist, we'llsee..hopefully I'll hear today.

Where I'm at, AF is over so hopefully in a few days we'll be jumping on the FWP wagon and getting some business taken care of!  My cycles jumped right back to normal this time so that's AWESOME!!!  I haven't been temping at all, I was getting too psycho about it but maybe I'll start..who knows but I do have OPK's to use and they worked last time

    This was a great idea!

  • It has been 14 months since my ep and almost 2.5 years since this journey started.  I have my pre-op appointment on friday for IVF and the end of the month I will start my protocal for IVF and as long as there are no unforseen issues I will hopefully have my first round of IVF with ICSI, the first or second week of November.
  • I'm also pretty tardy to the party, family is in town and work is keeping me off the bump!

I'm usually a lurker so I'll do an intro too. My name is Jeannie, we had our first loss in Feb of this year and then it was followed by a c/p a few months later. Since then I've been on bcp hoping to keep cysts at bay and this is my first cycle without it.**crosses fingers for no cysts** We've also been trying to narrow down what is going on with my thyroid as I'm having symptoms of a thyroid issue, but my doctor keeps telling me everything is clear, but won't run more than the basic panel. (working on finding a new doc that will run a full panel!)

We are likely going to continue to TTA until we get that figured out bc we don't want to risk anything and honestly we aren't emotionally ready yet, but I've been learning all I can from you ladies in the mean time!

  • This is great Kristy.

We have been TTC since January '09. I've had 2 m/c's and 2 CP's. We've gotten all the tests from our RE - I have diminished Ovarian reserve, and DH has a translocation. RE is pushing for IVF with PGD testing, but it's all out of pocket for us, so we're trying on our own now.

I just started acupuncture this week, and we'll try that for a few months and see what happens. If we don't get anywhere in the next few months, we'll move to the IVF.

  • I'm in the 2ww for my 3rd month off this summer.  I stopped acupuncture and all treatments for now until we start IVF in October (I hope).  I'm only taking pom pills, PNV, and wheatgrass (which I've been slacking on a bit).  If (or when) AF arrives I start my monitoring cycle where they'll confirm my CD3 b/w and then I'll be ready to start the IVF clinical trial.

We have been trying since April 2008.  First BFP was in Dec. 2008, m/c in Feb. 2009 and then a c/p in June 2009.  After tons of testing and 6 IUI's we're still unexplained so hopefully IVF will be our answer.
