Thrush or milk blister?

I have an appointment tomorrow but would feel better hearing any experience/advice you have to share.

On Sunday night I struggled with a clogged duct and used heat, massage and pumping to work through it. Monday a.m. I noticed a white spot on one nipple that looks like skin.  DS has no white patches in his mouth though he always does have that milky tongue.  My nipple hurts when DS starts eating and is sensitive throughout the day.  Not sure if this is thrush or milk blister or both.

Questions are if you have had thrush did you have it on both nipples?  Did LO not have symptoms even though you did?  Anyone have a milk blister and what did you do?

Thanks ladies!

Re: Thrush or milk blister?

  • sounds like a milk blister to me. i suffered three agonizing days with one, before i realized that normal breastfeeding could not possibly hurt that bad. i sterilized a needle and "popped" it. i felt relief IMMEDIATELY. the next feeding felt perfectly fine.
