WWYD re birth control

We are planning to TTC in January. I just went off the mini pill and back on regular BC pills and I am getting horrible migranes. I had this problem before when I was on BC pills. I thought maybe it would be better this time around but it's not. I am not sure what to do re BC for the next few months. I am thinking about just going off the pill, but DH is really not a fan of condoms and neither am I. I'm not sure there are any other options besides the timing method, which obviously isn't super reliable. I wouldn't be devestated if we did get pregnant sooner, but ideally would wait till the holidays are over. WWYD?

Re: WWYD re birth control

  • I would call your doctor and see what options you have. Last time I saw my ob doc I told her about my migranes and for me there was not much we could do because I am on a low dose pill. So she gave me a script for migranes.

  • It's only a couple months. I would say just wing it. Try and keep on eye on when you are ovulating and dont do it around that time. And just make sure DD does the ole pull out lol.

  • If done correctly, Natural Family Planning is just as effective as birth control. It would require you to abstain during fertile time (or use protection i using the Fertility Awareness Method).

  • Have you tried the birth control patch?  I actually didn't mind a few years ago when I was on it.

  • Try the patch (OrthoEvra).

I am unable to take the pill because my body reacts to the levels of hormones in it. One of my symptoms was debilitating headaches. Like cannot function headaches.

So I was on no BC at all for several years, until the Patch came out. My PCP recommended that I try it, because it's a different combination of hormones, plus is delivered into your bloodstream differently (thru the skin vs orally).

We tried it, and it worked great! I had virtually no side effects at all, and was on the Patch for about 5 years before we TTC.

    GL!
