So we decided on the venue and the date of the shower today. Decorations should be easy enough (hopefully!). The one thing I'm really bad at is favors. I was lost for my bridal shower, and now I'm lost for the baby shower. I looked on Oriental Trading for inspiration, but most of it was candy or candy containers. They even had booties for sale as a favor. Why does my grandma want or need baby booties? I don't understand.
I'm thinking about maybe doing a candy buffet, but I didn't know if people would "get it". I've never been to a shower or a wedding where they've had one, so I'm not sure if most of the people I'd invite have. And then it's kind of the same thing..why does my grandma need a bag of Skittles?
I also thought about not doing favors at all, but I don't think MIL will go for that.
Anyone know what they are doing? Who wants to share?
Re: Favors?
i am making homemae sugar cookies in the shape of oneies. i will decorate them and put them in individual bags with a thank you note on them.
Is there a specific theme? When my cousin threw me a shower it was a garden theme with a focus on sunflowers, my favorite flower. The favors were yellow chocolate-covered sunflower seeds in baby food jars. She even glued small silk sunflowers on the tops. They were quite a hit!
At a shower I just hosted last month we had a tea party so I gave out tea bags in the shape of roses tucked into doilies envelopes. They were very cute!
I like the candy bar idea, my friend did that for her wedding favors with a sticker on it that said her and the groom's names, the wedding date and "sweet dreams"
you could also make chocolate lollipops in baby shapes. OR if you're having a fall shower you could get caramel apples.
I found some creatives ideas for favors for a shower I was hosting here: https://www.babycachet.com/Ten_Great_Baby_Shower_Favors_s/1013.htm
They include favors such as:
? 1. Cookies
? 2. Candles
? 3. Treats
? 4. Photo
? 5. Seeds
? 6. Pampering Kits
? 7. Kitchen Items
? 8. Teas or Coffee
? 9. Photo Frames
? 10. Engraved Boxes
I love the photo and pampering kits ideas.
Hope that helps.
I made these for mine
We bought discontinued anti bac hand soaps from a Bath and Body outlet for a great price and are tying a ribbon around it with a thank you for coming note. Some great ideas on here though!
I am in love with this idea!! How cute.
