I'm overwhelmed with all of the brands of shoes! What are your favorites for an early walker? I have a boy who will be one in October and we need shoes (for play and for church) to take us through the fall and winter.
I love Stride Rite, but their feet grow so fast that I have already had to go up a size in 2 months, hopefully she slows down a tiny bit so we can get a little more wear and tear out of this new pair.
We have some stride rite that we like but I have a hard time stomaching $50 for shoes they will grow out of quickly so I am lucky to have an outlet nearby too.
Also like pedipeds for early walkers, they have the softer ones for really early & then the more grippy kind as they go. My only issue so far was when I got one w/ an ankle strap for DD and the first time she wore them all day (at daycare), they rubbed huge abrasions in both ankles that took weeks to heal .
DD's first pair of walking shoes or hardsole however you want to put it were Nike shoes. They were about $15 - $25, after discounts and coupons. I get them at Kohls or sometimes BRU, my mom got DD a pair for cheap as well. They are and have been great shoes for her.

Stride Rite. We had DS sized in May (he was 11 months old) for his first pair of good shoes (sneakers). And they sized him as a 4 wide, so we bought 4.5 wide.
2 months later they were already too small. So in July we bought him his second pair - they sized him as a 5 extra wide, so we bought 5.5 extra wide.
I'm planning to buy a pair of 6.5 extra wide around the end of October. I don't spend lots of money on nice clothes for him (we buy mostly Carter's). So I figure I can splurge on good shoes. I did buy a pair of Carter's brown dressier shoes in a size 6 since they were on sale. I got them for $15.00!! He will wear them on special occasions and for our fall family photo shoot.
I don't spend too much on shoes because they grow so quickly. Kelsey has been wearing sneakers from Target that have been working out well. Playless also has wide width, which may be helpful if your LO has a wider foot.
I bought DS a pair of pediped sandals when he was learning to walk last spring, and they were great. I bought them big and he wore socks with them last spring and then wore them without socks all summer. They are a little pricey but it was the only pair of shoes I bought him and they held up really well. For the fall, I bought him a pair of Puma tennis shoes and a pair of converse shoes from Famous Footwear and they are working great so far.
We started with Robeez. Switched not long after to PediPeds (much prefer them). She was walking well at 10-11 months and we've been wearing Stride Rite exclusively until she got her first pair of light up Twinkle Toes this weekend (a purchase she made with her daddy). They say good shoes are important and it's one thing we haven't skimped on.

Agreed. Pedipeds are supposed to be the best for early walkers because of the soft soles and See Kay Run has really cute stuff!
