I have never been one to be clever...no, really, I suck at it...when it comes to halloween costumes.
We went to Salem, Ma last year and there were all of these clever costumes: Kate (from Jon & Kate + 8), Swine Flu, etc. and I vowed that this year, we would be witty. Alas, I might just have to steal some ideas from you. ![]()
So, what is your halloween costume this year, if you are planning on dressing up??
Re: S/O Halloween costumes...
Bun in the oven. I'm going to make an oven around me, and have there be a bun on my belly that you can see through the Openable oven door.
I'm pretty sure I just made that word up. I must be super witty this morning. HA.

We've always wanted to dress up like characters from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, along with some of our friends--specifically the characters in The Night Man Cometh. I would be the Princess, DH would be Night Man, a friend would be the Troll, and another friend (who actually kind of looks like Dennis) would be Day Man. I doubt we'll ever do it but it would be funny. We love that show!
Yeah, you (Beth823) were the reason I started this post because I thought that was really cute!
I am also bad at costumes. It drives me crazy because my DH will wait until the day before and throw together an amazing costume. One year he put together a burger king and snuck up on people and handed them burgers. That was hilarious. Last year he bought a prison outfit and turned it into McDs Hamburglar and the year before he bought a bright red shirt and painted a happy face on it and turned it into Kool Aid Man.
For me, my best one was a few years ago. I bought a purple jogging suit and clipped on ears and a tail and put on a tummy to be my fave Care Bear. Sure I'm a bit old for that, but it was FUN!
Google "maternity halloween costumes". There are some pretty good ones that come up. My favorite one is the Mother Nature costume.

Alex always comes up with the most ridiculous costumes for us - I just go with whatever shiit he tells me wear.
One year in college we won a costume contest - he was a gorilla - straight up full gorilla costume with feet, hands, head, etc and I was a banana a la this:
Who needs to be a Sexy Insert anything here when you can rock that banana costume?
I got over my 19 year old totally embarrassed to be wearing that attitude when we left the bar with $500 cash.
When I was pregnant with DD I went as a dead pregnant prom queen, pink chiffon dress, up do with crown, then we put bruises around my neck like I was strangled and dead grass in my hair, bruises on my face etc. SO at the time went as the "star quarterback" lol it was AWESOME!
This year DH Is going to be a mailman (or milkman haven't made his costume yet) and I'm going to be a 50's-ish house wife
Awesome.
We have this one too!! I think next year LO will be a monkey and DH will wear this bad boy again!
Lion (just the little costume from Old Navy) = LO (link)....Dorothy for DH or Lincoln (the dog)...Scarecrow for me...Tin Man for DH or Dog
OR
Lion for LO and Mouse for Lincoln (basically just making mouse ears for him as he is a Yorkie and therefore a rat to begin with!)
It depends on my ambition/desire to actually dress up myself. LO is due two weeks or so before Halloween - and I am fairly certain I will be too tired/cranky to make anything major.)
There was a really cute bat costume at Target I saw the other day - I was thinking also of getting that and dressing the dog up as a baseball (yeah - baseball bat - I am that dorky) (Basically I would make a baseball of some sort out of white felt and red yarn?
I found this RIDICULOUSLY cute make your own costume book at Building 19 (for those who dont know what that is - it is a big'ole gross warehouse usually full of crap...) there were some cute ones in there - so maybe look for a book of ideas?
I also saw a website picture where a woman did "thing 1" and "thing 2" (Dr. Seuss) for her twins - maybe another Dr. Suess character would be cute? They would be fairly simple - all you would need would be those one color pajama bottoms, and a yarn wig (which can be found at costume shops or you can make one with yarn and a shower cap...)
ETA - for the BAT - I mean the flying rodent - not a thing to beat your DH with...so the RODENT Bat and a baseball (hence my "dorkiness")
I LOVE these....see? That's clever. Me? Not so much....
I bought the pregnant nun and priest costume when I was pregnant with DD, and didn't end up wearing it because I was afraid of offending people as well/ The Nun costume is cute...slits up the thigh and fishnet stickings. Still sitting in my closet unused!
