Babies: 3 - 6 Months

So I hate my diaper bag...

I have both a Vera Bradley diaper bag (that I got as a shower gift- and I'm not really a vera type of girl) and a jujube packabe.  Don't get me wrong, the packabe is great- if I'm going to the pool or the beach or the zoo...but for every day life it is way too boxy. And the Vera just really isn't my style.  Can anyone recommend a diaper bag that they love? Keep in mind I carry this bag as my purse as well.  Thanks!

Re: So I hate my diaper bag...

  • When I subscribed to Parenting for 3 years at $12, they gave me a nice little diaper bag, for every day. It's black with purple piping on it. I have a boy, but I like the purple...

  • I have this Juicy Couture diaper bag. I got it from the factory store - it was missing part of the ribbon tie at the top, so it was $75 instead of $298. I LOVE it. It holds everything, but its not too big/bulky. I use it as my purse too because it has tons of inside pockets. My friend also got the same one in pink from a discount seller on ebay (seller name evauleville). They often have other styles at good discounted prices.

  • I never understood a diaper bag but maybe it's because we have never gone anywhere longer than like 2-3 hours. When we went to my in laws for a long weekend then we used a military bag, but then it was more of a suitcase than anything.

I have a big purse so I just take a multi-use pad, wrap up a few diapers, a baggie of wipes, a burp cloth and a onesie and throw it in my bag. If there's a chance we'll be out for a feeding then I might bring a bottle or else I'll nurse here wherever I'm at.

So am I missing something, like the point for a whole other bag?

I don't carry a purse, just put my wallet in the diaper bag. I carry diapers, wipes, a change of clothes, formula, a bottle of water and a baby bottle. if i did just carry a pusre all of that would not fit. As I have 2 kids, I also carry a cup and snack for my daughter. When DS is older I'll probably carry a few toys, snack, and an extra blanket when the weather gets cooler.

ETA: I have a Columbia Trekster. It's backpack style bag, not cute or purse-like but it serves it's purpose well.

  • For long days or trips, I have a Skip Hop Dash that I love, but it's not as good for use as a purse. Most of the time, I just carry my Skip Hop Pronto mini changer in a large purse.

  • I have a Coach diaper bag.  I completely love it.  I've gotten a ton of compliments on it.  I use this as my purse also.  It's very roomy- fits everything and is very good quality.

They're expensive, but in my opinion- totally worth it.  If the cost is a concern though, you could maybe sell your Vera Bradley on Craigslist to offset a new bag.

  • There is a Coach outlet near my parent's house and earlier this year I found my diaper bag there. Normally I'm not into name brands, but it was greatly reduced and I loved the different pockets/compartments, included changing pad and optional long strap. Plus, we recently bought a red car seat and stroller, so it matched perfectly.

Diaper bags have pockets convenient to what you need for a baby so it's easy to keep everything organized. So, say, my diaper bag has a two inside pockets that each fit a travel case of wipes and a folded burp rag perfectly, two outside pockets for bottles or sippy cups, etc.

  • I got this one after having the same issue with the one I got for my shower.  I liked it but it had *no* pockets, is just basically a big...bag.

I got this one from Target, and I love it, tons of pockets and it clips to your stroller, very convienant.  It was on sale at my Target too, got it for 15.

  • I hated my Skip Hop Duo Deluxe bag...you would have to pull everything out to get an item out of it.  I got a different bag and have never gone back to it.

yep. My diaper bag has become my purse. My other purses wouldn't have held 2-3 CDs, a changing pad, wipes, spit up rag, blanket, toys, and a change of clothes.

I have a Kate Spade bag I got at a sample sale. I love it because it really, IMO, looks like a purse, but still has all the pockets and storage of a diaper bag.

  • I have this one: https://tinyurl.com/39u8gpj and I love it. I carry my wallet/keys/phone in it, as well.

  • I have the Diaper Dude messenger bag (love the bag, hate the cheesy name!).  It is a great size, has stroller clips that works with my BOB and my DH actually does not mind carrying it.  The three pockets on the outside are perfect for my wallet, phone, keys, ettc...
