Worst night ever (warning TMI PIP)

First off, yesterday I was in a total funk. I was in a bad mood, my shoes didn't fit me any more (apparently I'm now requiring wide width shoes), I was depressed about my 30th birthday coming up - not that I'm turning 30 but that I will be 100 months pregnant and won't be able to have a big birthday party (yes, selfish I know but I was debbie downer)

We get home and I am trying to come up with dinner. A few weeks ago I participated in a "fill your freezer" meal party and I had some "Almost Gumbo" soup left. Well - it ended up being "Almost Inedible" - it was just not good - at all.

Then we were trying to get the nursery put together a little - Avery had taken a bath and was naked (I'm sure you can see where this is going). We have canvas drawers in the closet and Avery is emptying them out. She climbs in one of the 12 x 12" bins and proceeds to POOP IN IT!!!

We get her cleaned up and then ready for bed and HOMEGIRL.WILL.NOT.SLEEP.... AT ALL. We tried EVERYTHING. CIO, rocking her, patting her, blankets, no blankets, fan, no fan. She is laying there going thru her arsenal of vocabulary words - mostly of all her body parts - She knows the word "Chin" - who'da thunk? DH and I were taking turns - she wouldn't settle down for ANYTHING.

Seriously 3+ hours of this - we ended up putting her in our bed. DH was still watching football - in which Avery felt like she needed practice being a sports commentator... "Touch down!" and "Uh Oh" and "Boom!" Shoot me now

Meanwhile - I get the worst case of heartburn EVAR. I can't hardly breathe because I hurt so bad and pepcid did NOTHING for me. Damn "Almost Gumbo" crap!

at 2 am - yes 6 1/2 hours after we initially put her to bed, DH took her back to her bedroom because we got tired of her assaulting us in our sleep - she doesn't like to be TOUCHED at night.

I.AM.TIRED.

(And the icing on the cake... I had put a Caffeine Free coke in the freezer when we got home to cool it off and I totally forgot about it - until about 11:30 last night - and by that time it had EXPLODED all over my freezer. I just shut the door and went to bed...)

  • I'm sorry, I know it was horrible for you, but I couldn't help but LOL!  Avery stories are always so funny
  • Well I hope today is a much better day.  Big Smile

  • Oh my!!  You definitely had your hands full.  I remember a few similar cases while I was pregnant.

I can totally sympathize with your 30th bday plans.  Selfish or not, I had HUGE plans, of parties and trips, alas, those were cancelled the minute we found when Miller's due date was.  I was upset too so I feel your pain. My 30th bday was July 21 and Miller was born July 15 so needless to say my bday was spent recouperating.  I tried to go out the weekend after my 30th bday and that wasn't happening either.  Hopefully you can get out a few weeks afterwards and have a big shindig!!

  • Oh my gosh, Sarah.  That is truly a bad, bad night.  I'm so sorry!

I agree, that "Gumbo" was CrapO!  It was so awful that the night I warmed it up for dinner, I ended up pouring the entire thing down the drain and making another dinner.  No one would eat it!   I thought I warned you about it...maybe I forgot.  By far, the worst thing from that party.

Speaking of party...you can still have a 30th!  I mean, yeah, you won't be able to drink and really live it up like you'd like to, but we could still do something fun.  I'll help Robert or your other friends plan something if you would like!

I feel soooo bad because I know that planning my shower on top of everything else must be really hard.  Working full time, taking care of Avery, being pregnant yourself...it's alot.  PLEASE let me know if there is anything I can do to help...I can make some of the food...run errands for you...pick stuff up...whatever.  Seriously.  Let me know!  I am more than happy to take some of it off your hands.  I can tell that you and Ghazaleh are putting alot of time and effort into my shower...and I am so grateful and so appreciative!  But, I don't want y'all killing yourselves for me!  The stuff that you are renting...is it from All Needs?  If so, Jim will be going out there with his truck Friday to pick up the table & chairs.  Do you want him to pick up your stuff too?

I hope your day today (and night) are better!  HUGS!

  • Aww I'm so sorry! ((HUGS)) I hope you have a better day today!

  • Too funny!  I hope today has been better for you!
  • Oh man, what a mess!  I'm so sorry Sarah.  And yes, that gumbo was just awful!  I hope Avery is able to sleep tonight!
