Hi Ladies! My husband was in the USCG for 5 years and got out 3 years ago. I guess we decided for him to get out because we wanted to see what else was out there and we had lived in 3 places in 3 years, it was just too much. Anyway, he hasn't had much luck finding a "good" stable job and on top of that I had a MC in July. We are not trying for a baby right now because we want something more stable. I guess I am just wanting to get some feedback because he is thinking about going back in and I want to know what I am getting myself back into. We were married when he was in, so I am familiar with Tricare.....are most of you all stay at home moms? Is that even financially possible? He will be trying to apply for Officer school as soon as he can because he now has school......just any feedback would be appreciated! TIA!!
Re: USCG/need feedback
If you were married when he was in before, then you should know what you are getting yourself in to. Generally speaking, things don't change that much.
As far as being a SAHM, that is a personal decision between you and your DH. Military spouses can have careers too. If you can afford to stay home, and it is what the two of you decide, then stay home. If you can't afford it, you get a job. With that regard, the military is no different than being in the civilian world. If finances call for it, you work, period.
Have you been to college? If not, why not go to college yourself? There are so many opportunities out there these days (tuition reduction, free books, etc), especially for military spouses.
