We had our first IVF cycle in August-and even though we did mTESE, we did not have any sperm to freeze. We do have sperm-probably 100,000 at the last sample-but very, very little (if ANY!) movement. So we are hit with extremely low number AND motility.
DH does not want to get the surgery again-and given that the ones we got form the mTESE-it's not worthwhile.
Now our situation. Our next IVF cycle (if we do one before December 31st) would only cost us a total of $100. And that includes meds. I produce a high amount of eggs-would you take the chance that the sperm would not fertilize ANY eggs (worse case scenario), if it only cost $100 to do it?
We do have the option of DH trying Clomid, and having some success in 3-6 months. If we did our IVF cycle in the beginning of the year it would cost about $750-plus the cost of the Clomid.
What would you do?
Re: MFI ladies- question
Especially if it was only costing $100 I would def. try again.
FWIW Clomid helped improve my DHs overall count by quite a bit but it actually made his motility decrease. So I would hate for you waste the time if it is not something that is guranteed to help though $750 is still an amazing cost for IVF.
Why would you take clomid for IVF though?

Clomid for your DH not for you - I am sorry I get it now.
Well like I said it is not a gurantee with the motility, my DHs was actually lower after almost 3 months on the clomid but with 0% motility I guess it couldn't hurt to try.
GL with whatever you decide hon.

Thanks ladies-I am leaning towards it. At this point, I have to decide whether I want to go with the clinic I used for this last cycle, or move on to another one. We did not have the best experience-and although I loved *MY* RE, I hate the other one, and would rather not work with him ever, ever again.
I'm also concerned that the RE wouldn't want to do it-given that we may not have any fertilize, could they tell us no? Some of it is about the statistics.....
