My right breast does not produce nearly as much milk as my left and it is starting to frustrate my LO. After only 5 or 6 minutes he will push himself off and scream. I always try to feed him on that side first in the hopes that it will help build more of a supply but he usually gets so annoyed I am forced to feed him on the left. I am considering buying some Fenugreek but I was curious what others thought who have used it.
Re: Did Fenugreek work for you?
1. Its totally normal for LO to favor one over the other, and for one to produce a lot less (normally the opposite side "makes up" for it). This is straight from my LC! Most of my friends have the same problem.
2. You can try a ton of different things to increase supply: fenugreek (3 capsules, 3x a day has definitely helped me), Blessed Thistle (I take this 2x a day, 2 capsules), steel cut oatmeal, extra fiber, beer (this is debated but has definitely worked for friends of mine--the hops in beer is a known milk-increaser, but the down side is pretty obvious), and more water.
3. If you have a manual pump, I'd recommend manually pumping the weaker side while LO nurses on the stronger side. This double-pumping has been known to work well too (I actually did this over the weekend with GREAT results).
You can also try massaging the weaker side
GL!
DANG--10oz in one sitting is amazing!
