Help new OB needed!

I need a referal for an OB that delivers at St. Jude. I have heard good things about Dr. Lawton but I can't get an appointment with her until October 16th and I am 7 weeks along right now. I guess I just want to make sure I am doing everything right because this is my first.

I'm a little nervious. Should I just calm down and wait for an apointment with Dr. Lawton or should I keep looking for someone else. Any recomendations for OBs? I live in Anaheim Hills and work in Placentia.

  • I don't think it will hurt to wait.  Most OB's don't schedule to see you until you are 12 weeks along anyway.

  • A lot of OBs will see you between 6-8 weeks. I know I was anxious to get in early as well. I went at 4 weeks:/ You don't want to wait longer than 12 weeks however if you want to do screening.

Look down at some of the older posts. There are a lot of girls on here that delivered at Jude and really liked their OB>

  • Dr. Lawton is my OB and I just delivered w/ her in July. She was great throughout my pregnancy and I'm completely happy with her, but you need to go with your gut feeling too. If you're already unhappy, maybe you should look into another OB. Did you tell them how far along you were when you made the appt? Maybe call back to see if they can get you in earlier? Do what's right for you.
  • I had a fantastic experience with Dr. Lawton and her staff....if it were me trying to get an appointment, I would wait for the opening. However, like PP said...you gotta follow your gut and do what feels right to you. GL!

  • I tried to get in w/ Dr. Lawton but she wasn't accepting new patients at the time.  I ended up w/ Dr. Dieterich and had such a fantastic experience.  Wish I would've had him for dd1.  He's located right next to Placentia Linda Hospital but only delivers out of St. Jude.  It's a small office with just him and a midwife who is there one day per week.  I didn't expect to be seen until 12 weeks or so since that's what my last one did but they took me right away at about 7'ish weeks.  Good luck!  St. Jude was wonderful!

  • I saw Dr. Vivan Lin at the Medical Center for Women. It's across the street from the hospital. I really liked her. You usually see a rotation of all the OB's because you'll be delivered by whoever is on call. I liked all of the doctors I saw.
  • I don't have a recommendation but I wasn't able to get in for my first appointment until 11 weeks and everything worked out fine.
