It amazes me that people still think there is a link. I know it must be completely frustrating to not know why your child has autism, but instead of wasting so much money and time to keep proving a negative, shouldn't the effort be moved elsewhere? It's only causing damage at this point.... just my two cents, for whatever they are worth

Whole-heartedly agreed! The time and money spent trying to prove a point that's already been disproven could be put to much better use in finding the true culprit.

Agreed, all these old diseases coming back doesnt help either... I don't want my kid getting some new strain of mumps or measles

But Jenny McCarthy said so!

My flame-free Monday comment is that I think parents that DO vaccinate their children are lazy for not researching how dangerous they are - in fact, I think vaccinating is borderline abusive. I've literally spent MONTHS researching them, as someone with multiple pediatricians and scientists in my close family. I will never vaccinate any of my children.

How arrogant to think that just because YOU did research, that no one else did.
P.s. Please tell me where you send your kids to school so we can avoid
If your kids are vaccinated and vaccines work so well, what are you afraid of? IF these diseases were "making such a comeback" my child would be far more at risk than yours. Oh no wait. The disease would mutate right? Please.

There is no such thing as FFMonday Confession. W.T.F? You think it is borderline abusive to do everything possible to prevent your child from getting life threatening dieseases? What are you smoking, because I sure as hell would like to be that delusional for just a minute.
Obviuosly, you did not read past the headline in that article. Why don't you take a look at swimbike's response in the thread below for a little help discerning the article contents.

I have a family member who did not vaccinate her first, and every time she got sick, she ended up in the hospital.
Vaccines are not abuse, it's a personal choice.
You're choosing to risk your children to diseases that have killed. I decided to protect mine.

And what did you find that supports your belief that vaccines are borderline abusive? I'm genuinely curious.

Even if vaccines did result in autism (I am not saying they do, I am very pro-vaccines), would you rather your child die of a disease you could have prevented or LIVE with autism or whatever else you think the evil vaccines might do

There will always be something to back up your opinion, no matter how INSANE they are. I've worked in the field of autism as a researcher for 11 years and there is absolutely no link between vaccinations and autism. We have several clients who were NOT vaccinated and have SEVERE autism. The idea that they are connected is a way for families to deny there is a genetic link. The apple does not fall far from the tree...

This may sound totally dumb but did you guys watch the Oprah with the family with 4 or 6 kids with autism? A couple kids were vaccinated and ended up with autism so they decided to not vaccinate the rest. the others developed autism as well.... It has to be a genetic disorder.
On another note... Didn't the doctors that were pushing for no vaccinations because of the whole autism "relation" take back their statements? I think the one that didn't was disbarred.

Pro-vaccine people just make no sense. *eyeroll*
Oh, honey. This post in itself shows that your vaccine "research" was for shiit. You don't understand the first thing about them.
I'm certain that I've done far more actual research (of scientific sources) than you have on this topic - and the only logical conclusion to come to is that the benefits of vaccines far outweigh the miniscule risks.
I could write you off as a silly paranoid non-vaxer and roll my eyes, too, if your decision didn't put other people at risk (including your own children).

I actually saw a story about that doctor the other day. It included a video clip from some time ago. In the interview he said that he never advocated skipping vaccines all together. He just believes that MMR should not be given all together, but seperately.
Wakefield even says that he never said that vaccines cause autism, but that more studies need to be done.
Ignorant people took his report (that they never read) and have harped on it every since. Putting their children in danger based upon twisted information.
Re: just sayin...(vaccines)
Sorry, my comp threw a tantrum, it should be fixed.

Ask the mom who lost her 2 month old to pertussis because someone didn't vaccinate their kid and gave it to a baby too young to get the shot.
Then tell me about vaccines being child abuse.

Here are some commonalities I see everyday:
- one or more family member (extended family included) from a mental illness
- child was premature (less than 30 weeks mostly)
- child suffered a febrile seizure following a vaccination b/c the parents did not administer tylenol pre & post vaccination
