DH has the next two days off, and we wanted to do something fun for DD for her birthday... just the three of us. Originally we were thinking of taking her to the zoo, but a few friends told us it would be a waste of time because when it's this hot out hardly any animals are out. We just moved here last month, and I don't know enough to do in the area yet, nevermind something that would be fun for our almost 1 year old. Any suggestions? We're up for driving if need be. TIA.
Re: what to do for 1 year old?
I second the Aquarium. We are making this a yearly birthday tradition for my DD. We didn't know what to do with her to celebrate her 1st birthday with just the three of us and we ended up at the Aquarium downtown. We did a repeat on her 2nd birthday. Both times were actually on the day of her birthday, whereas her parties are always on a weekend.
We ate at the restaurant (not the best food in the world but not bad) and DD loved the atmosphere. We walked around and rode some of the rides. They also have a small splash pad depending on when you go.
I'd say the aquarium as well. Plus, they have bogo coupons for coming on Tuesday I believe. Check out their site to be sure.
What about the children's museum? I've never been there but many of the ladies on here have.
